Stated it would read down to 11 feet but will only go down to 4 feet. Would barely read down to 4 feet as well. Don't waste your money.

This is one of the 3 product of this kind (costing within $70-150) I bought and tested trying to find a decent model that actually works and that it may worth its praised specifications on the product page, and it was the least disappointing out of the 3, but I will keep it because it may come in handy in some situations. The worst part in all 3 detectors tested is the emitter line being too thin and flexible at the same time and not being capable to be pushed inside a 4-inch smooth and straight underground rain drain pipe. This detector performed better than the other 2 that didn't even get past 25ft in no matter how much I tried to push back and forth and wiggled. With this one at least I got it almost halfway in. What happens is they coil inside the pipe and refuse to go any further under their own weight and friction, so the picture they show the sensor line turning 90° twice in a pipe is a joke. It may happen if that is within the 2-4 ft from the point of entry, or perhaps it may work better in smaller than 4" pipes. A better design would perhaps be to use a bit thicker sensor line firm enough to be pushed further, and taper to a smaller size close to the tip that would bend easier to take turns inside pipe fittings. The sensor detection precision inside the rain drain pipe was also better with this device than the other 2, as tested under a concrete slab, 2 ft deep dirt, and behind a thick brick wall, and I believe that this is due to its better wand radio and the more accurate LED bar signal strength measurement, as all others' emitters power was pretty close within almost the same range, and they can even share wands between these devices (their emitters' frequency was measured to be within 329-333Hz, and the wands radios receiving frequency range was way wider than that). These devices use very simple and cheap electronics and should cost much less than what they sell for. Now, I will be generous and leave 4 stars here but only because it was better than the other 2 models and I doubt that there is any other model within this price range that would do much better, unless you go to a different device category using a much better electronics design and hardware quality. The other reason for the 4 stars is that it may work better in smaller pipes that could prevent the emitter line from coiling inside, which I haven't tested yet, otherwise I'd give it only 2-3 for my application performance (mainly due to the weak flexible emitter line that getting stuck at certain point), because it doesn't matter how strong and accurate the electronics may be, if you can't push the emitter into the pipe deep enough to find the clog, then it's still a useless tool in the end.

They claim it goes 75 feet , this thing won’t scan more than 12 inches anything above that it won’t make a sound

Tried to use it to detect a buried pipe under a concrete slab and lost detection as soon as the tip reached the ground level.

I had a leak in my irrigation system and needed to follow a curved pipe. I had my reservations with both price and functionality. My pipes were buried about a foot below the surface. The device was easy to use and locating the curved pipe location and path was pretty easy. I highly recommend this device and it's price is half that of other similar devices.
