I purchased this "underground pipe blockage detector" to try to find the direction of an underground PVC drain pipe. It was useless for that purpose. The detector can locate the tip of the probe fairly well up to about 6" away, but not much more. Most underground pipes will be12" or more in depth. This tool is useless for that purpose. The other annoying issue is that the plastic spool tape has a memory effect. When you pull the wire from the spool, it tries to remain coiled. It makes feeding down a pipe unnecessarily difficult.

I used the item on a blockage underground drain，It worked beyond expectations… It precisely located a crushed pipe 25 inches deep in clay and rock. Saved me hours of digging. I recommend using the supplied ear buds，They're much better for detecting a weak signal.
