I purchased the Pioneer BDR-212BDK internal drive in March of 2023. Pioneer tended to be a quality name so I had high hopes. I'm not very hard on an optical drive. I primarily use it for ripping DVDs and BluRays to my home NAS. Which means the drives only have to "read". I rarely use them for a write function. Initially the drive worked well and spun up quickly, burning through a regular DVD movie in 5-7 minutes, copying the disc to an ISO file on my NAS. Then I let the drive sit for a few months and didn't really use it. Now in February of 2024 I go to use the drive and it won't spin up as it recognizes the drive. I have copied 16 DVD discs and only 2 of them spun up to the high speed read (and copied in 5 minutes each). The rest took about 15-20 minutes per disk and the drive just read at a slow rate, almost unable to even hear it running at all. Don't know why it's underperforming, but in less than a year and not having put it to very heavy use, I'm rather disappointed with Pioneer. This drive should still be humming along at top speed for years to come. I'll probably try a different brand that doesn't charge as much for an "11 month drive"

This is a bare Drive only with paper instructions. There is no screws or cables included. No issue for me as I was replacing an old drive and already have mounting screws and cables. Worked right away and have not had any issues so far. Pioneer historically is a great brand and this was a good price for quality and features.

C'est une graveur de qualité exceptionnelle. J'ai gravé 200 disques Blu-ray sans jamais aucune erreur en utilisant plusieurs logiciels différents même comme Nero, PowerISO et ImgBurn. Je le conseil à tous. C'est un graveur excellent pour tous.

I have a LG (WH16NS40), ASUS(bw-16D1HT), and plextor (PX-B320SA... The read/write speed seems to be much faster that the LG and ASUS. The plextor is faster but it has a problem recognizing DVD's (bluray doesn't have much of a problem, but so does the ASUS and LG)... However, it's registering the disc speed was nearly instant... the other 3 take 15s-60s to read. I have so far went through 15 dvd's that all 3 of the other ones could not read and was able to read and play. It was also able to rip(backup to MKV and ISO) those that were unreadable from the other 3. I would say the pioneer who has specialized in disc reading for well since laserdisc. I've only owned their car decks and disc(walk)men... but I will have to say I'm quite impressed... I'll probably update in 6 months to see if it's still kicking... But definitely worth the buy!

Pour : aspect sobre (pas de liseré métallique ou de logo blanc en façade), fiable, lecture/gravure de tous les supports, s'intègre parfaitement dans mon Dell Optiplex 9020, super silencieux en écriture à basse vitesse (testé en x 2 avec un blu-ray verbatim de 25Go, 45 minutes)Contre : attention au choix des supports de gravure : échec en AWS (automatic) sur ce même verbatim.

With other drives, sometimes it will fail to read in one drive and I try it on other devices and it play on them. I have yet to find a Bluray drive that can play a disk this drive wont. If this drive doesn't read the disk, no other device will be able to either. It is also extremely quiet.

I ordered this based on previous experience with the Pioneer DVD drives and the various review descriptions and it is everything I hoped. Quality construction, smooth and dependable operation, which is hard to find these days in drives. I have installed it into an external optical drive housing, that allows me to plug it into any PC's USB drive.
