I got this remote for my new Pioneer head unit because I drive a stick shift car. The unit works as advertised, but you have to point it directly at the head unit. If you mount it on the left side of the steering wheel, the head unit will not read the signal from the remote. A JVC remote I have on another car does work from the left side of the steering wheel. In the meantime, I will find a more creative way to make this thing work and be convenient. At least the controls are not too complicated!

Outstanding quality. Original Pioneer remote, you can feel the difference. I bought as cheap one it only lasted a week. This is real Pioneer quality, not a knock off. Thank you!!! $20+ anywhere else. I bought a spare!

Much cheaper than replacing the remote made for my unit (over 100$). It does the following :-turn unit in/off and change source-pause-attenuate (large instant drop in volume without pausing so you can order from a pickup window etc )-change tuner band and direct access to preset stations using keypad (awesome! Even the stock remote doesn’t do this and I find this makes using the radio so much simpler/efficient and intuitive.-turn volume and down-mimics up/dn/left/right functionality of right hand knob on p99rs head unit (HU)What it DOES NOT do:-the up/dn/left/right joystick thingy does not rotate to emulate the rotation of the right hand knob on th HU, AND although you can press the joystick as if it were a button this does not unfortunately emulate pressing the right knob on th HU (sigh)-several other buttons don’t seem to map to anything on the p99rs HU.-I haven’t done much playing around with navigating file structures on a USB stick but suspect this will be limited thanks to the limited function of the joystick. It does not seem to function well unless generally aimed at the unit (although I’m hoping this improves when I replace the stock battery which may have been a cheapo). So I mounted it on to of the handbrake using an L bracket and some strong adhesive back Velcro strips (so I can get it off to take apart my console if needed) see photo

Better than remote control provided by Pioneer for free for most of their radios. Use this one. It does not cost much but way better.

So I kind of 'bumped' my radio, I guess you could say, and a lot of buttons stopped working. These were important buttons such as the src, volume knob, etc. It's basically been stuck on CD mode and no way to turn it up or down for 3 months now. And I've been too cheap to shell out the money to replace it. Well as I reluctantly embarked on my journey for a new radio, I came across this remote. And I am so glad I did! This little remote has every button you'd need. From source/input to even hang up/pick up buttons for bluetooth to phone pairing. This remote has literally averted me spending money I'd rather not spend on a radio that I hope will be outdated very soon.(On a personal note, I completely oppose "upgrading" my radio when it's not "upgrading" at all. We are all still using dumbed down technology in our cars and it makes no sense!! There is no reason we have such sophisticated phones and tablets, and yet we rely on these bulky devices with low quality LCD's and skimpy features. It's absurd that EVERY car stereo isn't a smart, Android-powered device with Bluetooth and priced under $200. You can get more than that in any android device priced lower than that.)

I bought this remote to use with my recently acquired Pioneer AVH P3100DVD car audio receiver. I could not find a reference ANYPLACE if this remote would work with the car stereo model I had and the recommended remote Pioneer CD-R55 Remote Control looked HUGE and too complicated. I went out on a bit of a limb and bought this hoping it would work and it works great.
