il est arrivé sans son embouchure... Comme c'était pour un anniversaire, j'ai dû commander en commander une en supplément pour plus de rapidité.C'est un peu dommage. Sinon, il est ok.

I bought as a gift for my nephew who plays Trombone in band. My nephew researched this trombone and wanted it to practice with at home so he would not have to bring his real trombone home daily. My nephew told me he loves it and it works for his intended needs.

Update: we broke it. This is a cool instrument. But, there are lots of small parts. A connector piece broke and there was no way to fix it. We ended up recycling it.Original:I was skeptical. But our son wants to learn trambone and we already rented a trumpet for the year. Figuring that this was less than renting another instrument, and great reviews, we gave it a try. With caveat that we would not know a great instrument from a good one, it is great. It sounds good and is full sized. Plus, it is light weight which is nice for a younger player just starting out.

My 7year old got the mini pBone for Christmas. He marched and blew rhythms to all his favorite songs for several days straight. We were so happy that playing an instrument was so accessible to him and the small mouth piece was so easy for him to use. We are very very happy with the small size, light weight, and low worry with having with plastic build. It is easy to let him have fun with an instrument without worrying too much and he feels very successful making music with it.

Seriously, this is pretty slick for the price. The worst thing I can say about the pBone mini is that it's an Alto Trombone. Seems like a pretty good one, at that. Does all the stuff everyone says they want from an Alto Trombone. Sounds good. Plays...uhh...as well as I would expect any Alto Trombone to play. Would probably play even better with a smaller mouthpiece, but 500 years of tradition says NOPE.About the mouthpiece. It is ~22mm cup diameter, very round rim, and deceptively deep. Very good Bass Trumpet mouthpiece. Not my choice for playing in any kind of range called alto, but on the pBone mini, it renders a very legitimate sound.Slotting is very loose on ABS plastic. Whether this is good or bad kind of depends. I wouldn't want a French Horn to play like this, but it's not a problem on the pBone. Not like you can squeal around an octave above the treble clef with this thing. I've heard a lot of people say that plastic horns sound cold or dead. I don't really get that impression at all.Slide is very good. Out of the box, it's very fast. A bit noisy, but whatever. Supposedly, it requires no lubrication other than some occasional water. I figure it's fine as is. Nothing else to say that hasn't been said. Buy one. It's cheap.

I'm a multi instrumentalist, but never have gotten into brass instruments.when the pbone mini arrived, it's cardboard box felt like it was empty! It's that lightweight, easily carried by a 5yrs old's pinkie, without breaking a sweat.I got the blue one, because i found it less intrusive.i know they make them for kids, but i would have preferred a white, yellow, orange, or black one instead.I never have played any brass instrument before, and the last trumpet i blew through, it sounded like a cow mooing...This trombone out of the box was great to learn the base octaves on. I've learned embouchure in one day, and was able to form a relatively steady tone within the first 1.5 hours of arrival of the instrument (granted, i have some skills I took from saxophone).I found that the second and especially third octave was much harder to play.By default, the instrument is not very loud, but I've been able to get some brassy sounds out of it that would be loud enough to play in a band; though playing that loud would be torture on the lips.the higher the notes, the harder it is to get the volume evened out with the lower notes. It's not an easy instrument, and sometimes the note drops a 5th or 6th note when sliding, probably due to my bad embouchure control.I haven't tried another mouthpiece on it yet, than the stock one, but the stock one works somewhat ok...All in all its a fun way to start playing the trombone, but I would recommend to start with the full size for adults instead. It doesn't come with grease, and chain lube doesn't work very well on it. Out of the box, i think the mini could use some grease, as there is some resistance felt when sliding. It comes with gigbag, plastic mouthpiece that sounds ok, and instruction manual on how to install the 3 pieces. Please take in consideration that though I am a multi instrumentalist, I know next to nothing of playing the trombone.i wrote my review as a complete leek, and can't compare to other trombones about the quality of sound, playability, or volume you can get out of it. It sounds ok to me, though a little thin in the mid register. The build quality seems pretty ok to me. At least, it doesn't look like cheap Chinese plastic to me.My only regret is not having purchased the larger version to begin with.
