This seat is ginormous; hardly portable. If you're going somewhere with lots of other clobber you'll never manage this as well. I could hardly fit my size 16 arse in the chair with the arms up.That said, it's very well made, sturdy, but quite heavy. A size 14 arse might just about get in it. If you didn't have much other stuff to clart about, and you understand you'll be carrying a portable chair that's bigger than a toddler, go for it.

Comfortable, easy to convert to the backpack or have the chair with the arms up or down. We use these on our boat & bring them to shore with us. Great for picnics & other outdoor things where you want some back support. Lightweight & easy to carry with the backpack straps! Great buy!

I ordered two of these at the same time. One was for a friend. We had just returned a different brand and style of stadium seat because they were very uncomfortable and not a good quality for the money. These chairs were the same price and far better quality! While the seats I sent back had padding, they also had a VERY uncomfortable support bar that ran directly under my thighs (under the padding). These seats are padded comfortably on the seat, the back and even the armrests with no awkward bars, lumps or bumps. Because they recline to your choice of position they help avoid the "stiff back syndrome" that comes from sitting straight upright in most bleacher seats. The seat measures approx. 15" at the narrowest point with the armrests up. For a wider seat or if you just don't care to use the armrests, the seat measures closer to 20.5". The backrest comes up approx. 12.5" which hits me right below the shoulder blades. I looked everywhere for a seat of this caliber with a clip to hold the seat onto the bleacher but just couldn't find one. Since receiving this seat I realize that because I use it being reclined partially, a clip wouldn't reach the bench in most cases as I slide the seat forward a bit before reclining to avoid crowding the person behind me. There is a non-skid coating on the underneath side of the stadium seat to help keep it from slipping around as I jump up and sit back down repeatedly! Carrying is also a breeze as the seat in it's flattened position has two backpack style padded and adjustable straps.

I purchased this chair to use as a stadium seat, as it came up on my search on amazon, and so I am reviewing it being used as such. However, when I received it, the packaging called it a "portable recreational recliner with armrests" with a lovely picture of a lady using one at the beach, and had no suggestion of using it as a stadium seat. So I'm sure this is not it's original and intended purpose. I've used the chair one time at a college football game:This chair really is awesome with a few minor drawbacks. It is 20 inches wide, so if using it on a bleacher seat, it may be too wide if your stadium only gives 18 inches of seat room. It is borderline too big for the stadium I use it in, but didn't cause too much concern.I do have to pull the seat forward on the bleacher so I'm not invading the leg room of the person behind me.When I stand up to cheer, the seat will sometimes fall back as there is not a way to secure it to the bleacher (one reason for dropping a star)- I may add a strap myself to prevent this from happening. The fabric on the underside does give enough grip so the chair does not slide while sitting in it.I am 5'4", 130 lbs and this chair is plenty roomy for me, same goes for my husband who is 5'11", 180 lbs.I love how many reclining positions are available, as my back doesn't like sitting at a 90 degree angle. I only use one position down from 90 degrees as I feel any lower would be too much for those behind me, but it was enough for me to be comfortable. It is well cushioned, surpassing my expectations, and I cannot feel any of the frame while sitting in it, and I never once felt uncomfortable while sitting through a 4 hr football game.It lays flat for carry, which makes it HUGE and awkward to carry (another reason I docked a star). My husband uses the straps to backpack it into the stadium, but I can see stress on the stitching when used this way and I fear it will tear as some reviewers have said. While I appreciate the straps and I'm sure I'll use them when I need my hands free for whatever reason, I prefer to slide my hand in between the arm rest and the chair while flat and carry it at my side. My husband also had to tie the end of the adjustable straps into knots, as they can come undone easily and slip right through the plastic piece, requiring you to re thread them. All in all, It's comforable to sit in, and my back didn't ache at the end of the game. It's definitely worth the size and the lack of a bleacher strap/hook on the bottom, and I do recommend purchasing it!

I have some spinal problems and find this seat very comfortable and sturdy. It gives me the desired support. The arm rests are a real nice option and you can use them or leave them down so you are not stuck with them if they will be in the way. Your body weight holds it down and it really does work well without any kind of hook on the bottom. Now, to address some other buyers comments...1). The odor; yes, at the initial opening of the plastic bag, it has a horribly strong ammonia smell from the synthetic materials. I left it in the garage for a few days and the odor subsided so it's no longer an issue. 2). Width; some complain that it's too narrow. Really? Not for a person of normal size. If it fits you like a thong, perhaps you need to order a treadmill. I'm an athletic 5' 9"/170lbs and I find it just right. If you are a 'wide glide', you can always leave the armrests down. 3). Too big when flat and wearing like a backpack. What is this, the three little bears? First it's too small, then too big. Yeah, it's a bit large and I even chuckled when I opened the box and first saw it, but you can't have it both ways. If you want a seat that's large enough to be comfortable, then it's going to look big when flat. Get over it. People at events will realize the situation and aren't going to look at you like you are a freak. They will probably look at you with envy and wish they had such a comfortable seat to sit on. 4). Durability; Some complained about it breaking and not latching. Well, I'm betting those people didn't read the folding instructions that are sewn onto the seat bottom and just forced the seat until they broke it. I find it to feel quite solid and it works perfectly when you follow the instructions. Bottom line...I'm very happy with it and after sitting in it, my girlfriend wants one too so I'm going to order a second seat. I do have one complaint: it's not made in the USA. I prefer to support US jobs.***UPDATE: After sitting in the chair for about 4 hours at a recent sprint car race, I find the chair to be very, VERY comfortable and it greatly enhanced my event enjoyment as I didn't have a backache to deal with. It dawned on me that the best feature on this chair is the armrests. As you sit in it and prop your elbows on the armrests (which are quite comfortable to use) this helps to keep your posture correct and prevent you from slumping, hence preventing the backache. I will never again get a stadium chair without armrests. This is the key feature for comfort!!! The only issue I've had is that the nylon straps for wearing it on your back are not gripped well by the plastic buckles and the straps have come undone a few times, once causing the chair to fall to the ground while walking. The buckle just doesn't bite into/hold enough tension on the webbing to secure it. Frustrating, but I will easily fix that with 2 safety pins, or perhaps putting snaps or Velcro on the straps to hold them in place. Even with this minor annoyance, I have no regrets over buying this chair and am anxious for the second one to arrive.
