This silicone bead picking activity presents a range of experiences. I got a duck shape which was interesting and enjoyable. The silicone pad was thick and densely populated with beads. However, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to extract the beads completely from the silicone pad. I was able to pull the beads out, which would be concerning in a household or classroom with young children or children who put non edible items in their mouths. Additionally, upon manipulation of the item, I was unfortunately able to rip it – which was disappointing. It was enjoyable to pick th beads- and I do suffer from skin picking so I was looking forward to having this as a tool in my coping tool box. However, it would not be useful long term due to being able to actually extract the beads, and the ripping of the item. This is a great concept, but it needs more work.Actions

I got this for my student that pulls out their hair. I’m hoping this will help. I think I want one too, since it looks like fun. This will definitely keep a student or teen focused for a while. I wish it was reusable but happy with this product otherwise

Really satisfying to peel, but it made a mess rather quickly.

I’m not sure what to say about this one. Some of these things you can’t know if you’re going to like until you try them. I don’t know how to evaluate this one compared to others like it, because this is the only one I’ve tried.Picking the beads out of the silicone as a calming or busying activity didn’t really work for me. I found it to be more frustrating and agitating. Since maybe I’m not the right person/fit for this activity, I’ll try to just describe it so you can decide for yourself if this is a good item for yourself or your loved one.It is a quarter inch or more thick. The silicone is pretty firm and dense. There are indeed a lot of beads. It is packed pretty solidly through most of that thickness. Only the top millimeter or two of silicone has fewer beads. These are glass seed beads. The very small ones.A few beads rise as singles near the top surface. These are fairly easy to isolate and pick from the silicone. All around the sides and bottom of the molded shape are difficult to get started with a place to pick beads free, since they are so tightly packed. When I bent or folded the shape it made a satisfying crinkling crackling sound. Also the silicone broke or tore. Deep cracks opened up, giving access to all the beads along that edge. Beads began to fall loose without me even trying to pick them free. Pulling beads from the cracked open edge was about as much challenge as picking loose beads from a dish.I feel like continuing to pull and pick at these broken edges will end up with the shape tearing into smaller and smaller pieces. Depending on the user, this could be a problem or safety concern. This is a messy activity. What do you do with all the loose beads and bits of silicone picked free? Do you sit with a bowl to collect it all? Pick bits free and drop them on the floor? Also, I feel like maybe in this case more is not better? I feel like a softer thinner silicone piece with fewer (and maybe larger or varied size) beads, spread more thinly throughout the substance, would give a more realistic and satisfying picking experience.I admit to not understanding this tool/toy, but maybe some of this description and my experience can help you decide if this is one you want to buy.

Weird premise for me, but the girls love it. The skin picking thing... Well made. Seems a tad overpriced. But got a great reaction.
