My moderately cheap calipers seem fairly reliable when measuring things, certainly not off by .05mm, maybe .01mm. I took many measurements across the whole string and repeatedly rezeroed by calipers a few times, checking them against some cheap feeler gauges I have. Google says a #17.5 should be 1mm not .95mm. That seems quite different and I'm betting that translates to trying to tune the piano, but only an expert would know. I'm actually using this as part of a custom made Halloween animatronic that needs a spring steel cable (piano wire) to center the spine. For that purpose, this was more than fine.The packaging was excellent, it came in a thick ziplock bag, and the ends were taped off so it didn't poke through. It had a slight curl from being shipped as a coil, but it was very minor, probably very typical. Overall, if this is what you're looking for and the dimensional accuracy doesn't bother you, I can recommend it.

Good quality, stainless steel piano string. I got this to make a rope splicing tool. It arrived in excellent condition wrapped on itself. It is very springy and strong. It does not bend easily. Once bent or positioned, it wants to spring back to original form. Overall, exactly as described and a good deal.
