The product arrived very quickly as promised. This was great given the lights were out in the laundry room!! The packaging was concerning. It didn't come in its own box but simply inside a cellophane style plastic bag. It looked like the ballast had been repackaged. The support brackets which hold the ballast in place inside the lamp fixture were bent. There was a white grease pencil mark on the back of the black ballast. The wiring was wrapped around the ballast and being held in place by an old worn elastic band - the elastic band disintegrated when I was trying to remove it after removing the product from the package. I don't think it was packaged in the factory this way. I was sure it was a used product, not new. I would have sent it back immediately except the lights were out in the laundry room!! No one likes being in the dark and the room needed to be back in service. Aside from the bent brackets and shoddy packaging, the ballast looked fine. I gently straightened the brackets without breaking them. Then I installed it and it worked right away. Just a couple of days but no issues with its function. I figure someone purchased it, tried to fit it in some other fixture and then sent it back because it was the wrong product. I just don't like paying a new price for a used product. I will keep it but have my say.Update - So, I am engaging with the seller and Amazon and I am getting the standard run around. Seller says: We send Amazon only new products. It's Amazon's fault. A plausible argument. Amazon is sending me to the seller indicating its their product. Me in the middle. I paid full price for a used product. On the plus side, it is working. The product is delivering a benefit. It's just misrepresented as being new when it is not! Will it break the bank if it fails? No. Anyway, my life is too short to waste any more time on this. On to better things!

I replaced 2 old T12 magnetic ballasts w 2 new T8 electronic ballasts. Job went smooth & the end result is bright fluorescent lights. Mag ballasts have 8 wires & the electronic ballasts have 5 wires. 3 pairs of old wires are combined & attached to 3 single wires on the new ballast. Also there have been comments if these are actually Philips brand because the name is missing. In 2018, Philips lighting div changed its name to Signify, thus the name discrepancy.

Man, have Ballasts' increased in price. Bought this one as it was the least expensive I could find, still cheaper than replacing the entire fixture.Took less than 15 minutes to install... these used to be less than $10; but everyhing has gone up in price.Would buy again whenever I need another Ballast.Does the job for me -- running 2 T8 bulbs, 4 foot

If you are using LED bulbs (2), you must get T8 and only T8. T12/T8 won't work in this ballast.I bought this ballast to replace the one in my aquarium light hood. I decided to get LED bulbs for the fish tank. I had an LED and a flourescent tube when I used it for my bearded dragons, so it worked with LEDs, right? I installed two GE Universal Color Select bulbs and they worked great, for a few days. Then one went out. I checked and the bulb was good. The other bulb didn't light in the slot, either. In comes this ballast. I installed it and the bulbs. I turned it on and only one bulb worked. Huh? I figured that maybe the tombstones for that side were bad, so I replaced them. Both bulbs worked for a few days and then the other bulb went out. Then I noticed that it only worked with the bulb that was installed first. I know, weird.I called GE and spoke to a tech. He said they never tested this ballast with their LED bulbs. He looked it up and found the problem. The Universal bulbs are meant for T12/T8 ballasts (they accept both). This ballast only accepts T8 LED bulbs. It doesn't matter with fourescents, you can use either, as I have in the past with the same ballast model. I had to get the GE Replacement LED bulbs because they were strictly for T8 ballasts.I returned the bulbs to Lowes and got the Replacements and they work!
