I used this lanyard for positioning as an edge tender and as a tether for a handled ascender. It works well and holds secure. It has a lot less bulk than a traditional cow tail. I would recommend

Use as a personal anchor. This is the way to go to avoid static anchors and allow for adjustability while setting up or cleaning an anchor.

My previous personal safety was a shoulder length nylon 1/2" sling stitched together with a biner at the end. This worked well for many years but the downside was having to use extra draws off the anchor to get the optimal position. With this lanyard I can easily adjust the length and clip directly into the anchor.
