Your cart is empty.Finding a break in your pet fence boundary wire is easy with the new PetSafe Wire Break Locator. This wire break detector helps accurately locate full wire breaks in any in-ground fence system. The wire break transmitter sends two unique tones down each side of your dog fence boundary wire. With the hand-held locator, you not only hear each tone sent by the wire break transmitter, but the red and green lights on the locator allow you to see which tone is being received. Wire breaks in the boundary wire are commonly found where the wire exits the house and enters the ground such as at wire splices, where the wires cross sidewalks or driveways, around landscaping and flower beds or in aerated lawns. When the wire break is located, use one of the included wire nuts and gel-filled capsules to repair the broken wire. We recommend repairing the breaks as you go around the boundary. The sound tones. one low steady, one high and pulsating work great. ie one signal is sent out on each end of loop. two light indicators one red one green show for the most part. at times the green wasn't real visible in bright light. found the 2 breaks, and repaired.

Have an acre which we had an invisible fence (Invisible Fence brand) installed around the entire perimeter of the property. We did some landcaping and broke the line in 3 spots fairly far apart from each other. 1 spot was obvious, the other 2 were not. The locator found the breaks easily and I was able to make all the repairs quickly (under an hour) and the fence was working like new again. Invisible Fence brand uses 14 gauge wire, so I bought extra 14 gauge wire as I didn't want to splice with the 20 gauge wire that was included in this kit. The key points are pour a few gallons of water on the stakes to get a good ground and start detecting from near your controller and fix breaks as you discover them going around your yard. It's all very easy and you'll be fixing your fence like a pro in no time.

I was skeptical of this would work, but after watching a YouTube video and reading all of the instructions we gave them go in, ordered it! I can safely say it saved us digging up our entire perimeter line for our three dogs, and we had the repair completed in less than an hour! 10/10 recommend!!!

It takes a while to set up, the two earth ground stakes being the most work,but in the end it found the break in our invisible fence.

Money well spent. I have had my fence for about 20 years and every so often there’s a break. I have 6 acres fenced in and three dogs that know when it’s not working. Time is of the essence when it comes to repairing it. This time I there was snow and ice on the ground and finding it the hard way was not an option. I broke down and bought this device. I was ready to return it before I even got it because I had little faith that it would work. Boy was I wrong. We found the break in under 5 minutes and we’re back up and running in 15 minutes. This takes time, effort, and judgement, but it does work well. If you tend to get breaks more than once every few years (such as if you have a neighbor that likes to aerate the lawn) this is a great tool to have to find and repair breaks quickly.

**Update**:The second year my fence developed a break I set about setting this product up for use. When I plugged it in, a loud pop was heard and the unit began smoking and growing hot. Literally caught fire in my hands.Sadly, there is no other method for detecting wirebreaks in this fence. So I have to order another one. Angry face.I ordered this product as my in-ground fence has developed a frustrating series of line breaks. I tried the AM radio method of locating the breaks on my 5 acres, but it wasn't working for me, so 150$ later here we go.It's relatively simple to set up and use. Honestly, I wonder why it's not included with the original kit, as I'm pretty sure every owner of this system is going to experience hidden line breaks over the years. After following some ghost transmissions for awhile, I did eventually locate my break, so kudos to the system for working mostly as advertised.The detector stick (my kids call it the minesweeper) did stop working briefly for no apparent reason but then started working again a few minutes later.3 stars, mostly due to price and it should really be a part of the original in-ground fence kit, not a pricey addition for something that will definitely happen.

We install remote mowers and through the winter the mice had eaten a customers ground wire. We hooked this unit up and with very small learning curve we found the breaks in the ground wire. Awesome little unit.

I have to say that there is nothing that I don't like about this wire break locater by PetSafe. I read through the instructions before I started anything to familiarize myself with the process. That made it easy to use and finding the breaks was super easy. The boundary perimeter is almost 1800' and randomly digging in areas that could be a problem would have taken forever. Especially since the underground fence has been in place for almost 7 years. Briars, brambles, trees, weeds and vines have overgrown the wire fencing and I knew I had two choices in fixing the problem. One was to replace all the wire which is a difficult and costly endeavor. A box of over 100 landscape staples were needed the first time so it wouldn't have been just the cost of wire. It also would have taken at least two days to lay the wire properly which means a lot of bending over and kneeling on the ground. My second option was to purchase the PetSafe Wire Break Locator. The purchase price was less than the cost of replacement wire and staples, not to mention time saved and also an aching back and sore knees. I won't go into the step by step process as to how I found the breaks....there were two....as the instructions are very well written and easy to understand. Just take your time, don't get in a hurry and before you know it, your fence will be back in perfect working order. The only tools I had to supply was a hammer, a set of wire strippers, and roll of black electrical tape and a strong garden fork to dig for the broken wire. It took about 1 1/2 hours to thoroughly walk the fence perimeter, find and then fix the broken areas. I highly recommend this unit...it will save you time, money, and possibly a missing pet or worse!

This product worked perfectly to help fix my in ground fence. I originally was hesitant as the price seemed steep... but it took me under an hour to get the break located and repaired. Considering the age of the system (18 years), I imagine I may be using this break detector again at some point. It's worth the investment! Recommended :)
