I take it while walking the dog. I had a fox stalking us but kept its distance. It started getting close and I sprayed. It smelled the spray and ran away

This is yet another worthless product sold on Amazon. The belt clip is cheap and unusable, so I put it in my front cargo pants pocket where the safety unlocked and sprayed, soaking my pants. In addition to leaking in my pants, leg, and groin, it didn't burn or irritate my skin in the slightest. In fact, the substance had a mild laundry detergent-like smell. Other than the malfunctioning spray, the substance won't be a deterrent for anything, much less an aggressive dog. I will be filing a complaint with the FTC regarding this product.

Bought for a relative who's dog recently got attacked whilst on a walk. It has definitely given said relative more confidence when out and about. Small compact size, will fit in pocket easily. Thankfully hasn't needed to be used so can't comment on effectiveness. Looks simple enough to use if needed. From the info it came with it only holds enough spray for a single use, with that in mind I do think its quite expensive. But then again you can't put a price on the safety of our pets!

Bought this last summer after the second time my dog was attacked by a loose dog while on a walk. I didn’t have to use it for almost a year until yesterday a loose dog came running across the street from its yard. No owner in sight. Not sure if it was being aggressive but it was really charging toward us. My dog reacted defensively due to his previous expression and a fight broke out. Seconds into it I remembered I had this spray and I grabbed it and sprayed it toward them. Both my dog and the other dog quickly separated and I was able to regain control of my dog. I used almost the whole can out of panic (oops) but I was so relieved that it was effective.It’s a little pricey to me but still I will be buying another for the price of mind.

Luckily I have not had to actually use this product yet so I cannot attest to how it works to deter another animal. I bought it to bring on walks in my neighborhood as there are occasionally loose dogs out and there are a ton of reactive dogs in my neighborhood and I'm always scared that one of them will get away from the owner and I wanted something to protect my dog with. The size is small so that it is convenient to carry in my pouch and lightweight. The red switch that you flip is easy to use. If I feel threatened I've taken it out and held it with the switch on the on position and it's super easy to do that in an emergency. I like that there's an off and on so you don't accidentally spray yourself.

This product has so far proved affective at getting dogs to leave us alone and makes me feel a lot more confident when out with my reactive dog!My dog doesn't like other dogs, I make sure he has leash sleeves/signs warning that he doesn't like dogs coming near him, but unfortunately that doesn't stop owners letting their dog run up to him while he freaks out, usually accompanied by shouts of "don't worry, they're friendly!" (that doesn't mean they're friendly when another dog is doing everything in their power to get them to leave him alone), so having this spray is great for some of these dogs who just will not take no for an answer and who have no desire to listen to their owners attempts to call them back after being warned my dog isn't friendly.I've only actually had to use it once, but the dog was ignoring their owners calls, would not back away with my pushing them back, shouting at them, and was completely oblivious to the fact my dog did not want to be friends, but a quick spray to the face sent them running off back to their owner without further trauma to either dog.

We have used this spray more than once to stop a bad situation from escalating. This review isn’t speculation, it’s from experience and the TLDR is you should be carrying this on every walk.First, let’s talk about what it is NOT. It is NOT pepper spray. That is both good and bad.The good news is that you will not do any damage or cause pain to yourself, your dog, or any other animal. The bad news is that because it does not cause pain, it may not be effective at stopping a truly red-zoned attack.What it DOES do is produce a decent strength stream of pressurized water with a slight citronella scent. It’s designed to annoy and deter by interrupting the situation. Think of it as a quick blast from a super soaker.It’s very easy to use, just flick and press. Aim for the head and you do not need to worry about hitting your own dog as again, it is not pepper spray. It’s best when used before an encounter gets physical.We have a husky that is always on leash. Unfortunately it seems there are far too many people who ignore leash laws despite not having any recall and can’t tell when their dog is being aggressive (and as any husky owner knows, huskies seem to trigger an abnormal number of aggressive reactions from other dogs). A squirt from this results in a confused sputtering dog, but no yelps of pain and no trips to the vet.We’ve used this 3-4 times, and it has defused the encounter every time.Only downside? The clip adhesive is awful. Get some super glue or a pouch, because it’s a “when” it detaches, not “if”.

I ordered this spray two years ago because I’m a dog walker and it provided peace of mind in case anything ever happened.Dog owners of the neighborhood! A couple important things to be aware of!Just now I was walking two leashed dogs in a park that is adjacent to a beach. A stout, unleashed pitbull gunned it from the beach and tried attacking the dogs I was walking.I carry a this dog deterrent spray with me, but over years have never had to use it. I managed to pull it from my bag in time and sprayed the dog like crazy. The deterrent worked, the dog was stunned for a moment and retreated long enough for the owner to grab him. This spray likely saved me or the dogs from being badly injured.Citronella deterrent spray is amazing. Anyone can get it at pet stores or on Amazon. You can use it and be confident that while the dog will HATE that it is happening, it may provide a chance to get into a safer spot with your dogs

Although this may work on an approaching or less-aggressive dog, it is NOT for use to break up fights, or if the dog is very aggressive. We unloaded the whole can directly in the eyes and mouth of a dog who had a firm bite grip on another dog, and it did absolutely no good. In fact, it didn't even have a smell and the dog's eyes and mouth weren't irritated in the least. It is possibly only good for the what's on the label - repellent - but not likely on really aggressive dogs.

Just been on a dog walk now, and had to use the spray to stop a huge dog that was completely ignoring its owner and was barrelling towards me and my 2 little sausage dogs. This product works.One of my dogs have been attacked before, so I wasn’t going to take any chances. So I got my spray out and when the offender was about 6 feet away I sprayed in it’s general direction, it stopped dead in its tracks... I think the shock of the water spray just took it by surprise, then it started to edge closer, so I gave it another little burst ... ( whilst reassuring the owner on the other side of the field 🙄, that it was just a water spray, don’t want to end up in any fights!) well it was amazing it just stopped ... looking a bit confused at to what had just happened, my little sausages hiding behind me gave a little sigh of relief.I feel so much more confident now walking my dogs out and about. It’s something I’ll only use when necessary, but it’s peace of mind, as sadly not all dog owners have good recall on their dogs. Have ordered more for myself and family.
