Bought this for my small old dog. It holds up well and can be put in the dishwasher. It is just a little too shallow and food gets everywhere but it’s a good quality dish. She liked eating out of it instead of a deep bowl.

My small dog hates his collar hitting the dish and doesn’t like to reach deep. The oval shape is perfect. Well made and sturdy! Very attractive too!

I have been searching for a good shallow food dish for my cats for months. Something ceramic (or kiln fired clay as the case may be) that won't leach any plastic toxins. These are perfect. Well made and attractive.

I wanted a bowl that met US FDA regulations for lead levels. I figured my cats used their mouths/tongues to eat out of these bowls multiple times a day; the least I could do was give them their meals in something safe. I actually did some research and found this line of bowls from petrageous did indeed meet those FDA Regs on both lead and cadmium levels. Cool!I like that they are heavier and can withstand the microwave and dishwasher (AND rambunctious cats tearing through the house!).Last thing I want to note is I purchased the Oval bowl. I did this for many reasons; first it is wide and low profile. It makes eating out of the bowl much cleaner and easier for cats (I think). I couldn't imagine what it's like to have long whiskers on each side of my face, and getting food or bumping the sides of a `taller' bowl, would feel like.They seem happy with the bowls, so I'm happy :)~~ Update 06/03/2014 ~~ Since I bought these, I now cannot find the information on Petrageous website about the "lead and cadmium levels." So Its possible they've revised their statement since. (And I know I didn't pull those terms from thin air). But they Still do state: "Our #1 mission and priority is to always make sure ALL of our products are PET SAFE! We demand and receive, from our factories, stringent quality control standards to ensure that our goods meet our, and your, quality expectations and fully comply with the USA FDA standards." Also stated: "Fully compliant with FDA Regulations & Standards for human consumption."OVERALL - even though it seems they've changed their claim a bit, I still love the bowl and feel comfortable using them for my cats.Although I did discover they do like to shatter into millions of tiny pieces when dropped on a tile floor :-) oops.
