Cross checked with pets that have chips and it doesn't pick up anything. Replaced with another one and it doesn't work either. Disappointed at reviews saying it does.

We have 5 microchipped pets in our home. I tried this scanner on all 5; zip, nada, nyet. Also, had a previous user's data onboard i.e. returned and sold as-new to me. Best to avoid this kind of scammy nonsense.

I recently ordered a different chip reader and it didn't show a microchip for our big furry girl. So, instantly, I thought that I inserted her chip incorrectly. I ordered this handheld scanner to make sure. Sure enough, soon as the scanner got near her microchip spot, it read her chip. This one works flawlessly, well at least it does on all of our furry babies. This one is lightweight, very easy to operate, accurate, and I really like it. We always see stray dogs and cats in our area, and this is a great way to see if those animals are chipped.

I ordered the Alacrity 3-In-1 Pet Microchip scanner so I could scan both of our dogs for microchips. My wife is a hospice nurse and we have adopted both of our dogs from former patients of my wife and I wanted to check their chips to see what information was recorded on them. Only one of the dogs’ microchips could be read by the scanner and I assumed that the other dog was most likely chipped with an AVID chip after doing further research that the AVID chip was older technology. Since it was our older dog who is nearly 17 years old, I am assuming her chip is not readable by this scanner. Two problems that I have with this scanner is that it has limited documentation and what it does have states that you can contact them for software but there are no instructions with the scanner or on the listing on how to obtain that software or even what it is called. The second issue is that when I scanned the one and only microchip in our other younger dog it came up with the number but it showed several other numbers as well even though the scanner was new and I had only scanned one chip. The screen is limited and does not display the entire number, only a truncated list of the numbers. When I try to scroll to the newest chip number it would not allow me to scroll to that chip number or allow me to select it. When I connected the scanner by USB to my laptop, it recognized new hardware, said it installed new hardware but never displays an actual device. On the scanner I can select to download the records and it showed 5 records downloaded but I cannot find where they are downloaded to. I am a retired IT professional and I spent over an hour trying to figure out where the records went to and could not find them. The scanner is not very useful without having a way access or to utilize the information from scanning microchips.

This is a great scanner, however we have an older kitty (6 animals total), his chip is not scannable with this chip reader due to the type of chip he has. Other than that all of our animals chips were readable.

I wanted this because there are lots of stray animals in our area and many visit our yard. If any are missing pets, I hope to reunite them with their owners. Also, I wanted to be able to check my animals microchips. I tried it on my Yorkie (who I did not have the chip number for and was hoping to get), and I tried it on my two indoor/outdoor cats. This picked up all the chips as soon as it was near their back. I have the chip numbers for the two cats and it indeed matches what the reader showed. I especially love that this is rechargeable so I don't have to worry about having the right batteries available.

This pet microchip scanner is very easy to use. It scans many different chips, very quickly. It does not scan the Avid Microchips. I help with rescue dogs, so this scanner is great to have to scan and see if they have a chip. After chipping a dog it is nice to be able to scan them to make sure the chip is there.

This product does what it is supposed to do. Read your animals microchip if it is "ISO11784 / ISO11785 / FDX-B and EMID"By trial and error I found out how to upload the information to my computer.1) The software is on a USB Dongle(not with a cord) that comes with the scanner. Plug that USB into your computer and it will download the software.2) Scan your pet with the Tag Reader.3) Plug the Tag Reader with corded USB attached into your computer(should also work with Bluetooth or 2.4G, but I didn't give that a try)4) Open a document such as NotePad, WordPad, or MSWord.5) Scroll down on the Tag Reader screen to "Upload". Press the round button on the Tag ReaderThe records in the Tag Reader will populate to the open document.
