I've been buying these chewy beef hide things from my local grocery store though I've been getting a different brand that my dog really likes. They run out for quite some time so I decided to give these ago and he seems to like them quite a lot. They feel a little bit sticky and the warnings people have listed about them staining your carpets didn't really apply to me since I have hardwood floors. These are definitely staying on my shopping list for the next time I need more.

I got the 2 lb. beef basted chips. A great value considering the high price you see on most rawhide products in the stores. My dog loves them! The only thing i would recomend is that, like mine, if your dog has white fur on their paws or face, get the plain ones. The beef basting stains light colored fur unless you wash the chips first to remove the excess. Otherwise its a great product.

Pet Factory deceptively changed the picture of the package in the pictures, so you don't see the ingredient list that is actually on the package front showing "artifical flavoring". They are careful in the wording of this product's description to make it seem to the reader this is an all natural product: ie, "100% all natural rawhide"; "no dangerous additives"; "safe"; "99% digestible"; "peace of mind". Not only does this product bleed the color of the basting all over the carpet while my 2 dogs chew it, but they were hesitant to chew it without encouragement, recognizing it's not real beef. They also have not chewed more than 1/2 of it, before leaving it lay on the floor. I haven't experienced this with any chew that was actually naturally flavored. My one dog is a 2 yr old male Kangal, and the other is a 6 yr old female Samoyed. They're as polar opposite in their genetics, norms, behavior, motivation & taste as you can get. Yet both dislike this product.

My dogs are picky about dog chews in general. It's hit or miss with plain rawhide, but they are excited to eat these and can't be torn away until they're finished. They last a fairly long time, as most rawhide does. They are a good size for my medium sized dogs (40 and 48 lbs). I first bought the chicken and was please to find it didn't really stain the carpet. I paid $16 after a coupon, which is reasonable for 2 pounds. So I decided to try the beef, since it was still $16. They love them just as much or more than the chicken, however they stain fairly badly. One dog eats his on his makeshift dog bed (it's an old, thick comforter), but the other eats it on the carpet, starting by licking off the outer beef coating, leaving me with a large brown stain. I've since gotten her to eat it on a towel, however I won't be ordering the beef again. Maybe I'll try the peanut butter next time they're on sale.UPDATE: I was wrong about the chicken ones not staining. They do, just not nearly as badly as the beef. I suggest training your dog to eat it on a towel, so you can wash it (soak first). Possibly the peanut butter or vanilla don't stain, but they are never on sale.
