I have a mildly modified Type1 1600dp engine in my '73 Thing -- semi-hemispherical combustion chambers, larger valves, mild cam, ported/polished & blue-printed. I've been running .009's for ages and just got used to the well-known flat spot. Finally frustrated by this, I decided to give this distributor a try, having been a long-time customer using Pertronix Ignitors in all my air-cooled vehicles. Matched to their plug wires, the flat spot is all but gone (I think an accelerator pump adjustment will solve this) and my engine has more torque than I've ever known it to have. Where I would have to get up the hill to my house (we live in San Francisco) in first gear I can now creep up at low speed in 2nd gear without issue.Maybe my wife will now be comfortable driving the Thing! I highly recommend this distributor.
