We have engineered a special high energy module and coil combination that operates without misfires beyond 7500 RPM. That’s nearly 3000 RPM higher than most stock HEI distributors. Flame-Thrower HEI distributor produce 67 percent more energy with a 45 percent faster spark breakdown time when compared to the stock HEI. This means twice the energy to the spark plugs. Our tests show that with these improvements wider plug gaps can be used resulting in an increasing flame kernel growth for more efficient combustion.

Purchased the PerTronix D1200 Flame-Thrower for my newly rebuilt Pontiac engine. Unfortunately, within 236 miles of its initial break-in process, the coil inside the distributor died, leaving me stranded along the interstate. Unit has not met my expectation for quality.

Unhappy, product failed and the engine was on the run stand. No spark , going to throw an msd on it and be done with it. I won’t buy pertronix again.

The Distributor showed up and it had a used red cap, and the shaft was 4 inches to long. It was advertised as a new part.

When I finally decided on this distributor, it was after reading the . Originally I was going to get a stock (Cardone remanufactured) HEI distributor when I learned that the stock distributors work best for stock cams. Since I am using a XE262H cam in a 8.5:1+ compression 400, I decided to start looking for a better distributor for my application. I compared this distributor to the Summit house brand Pontiac HEI and the , but after reading a number of Pontiac forums and the book above I decided on this distributor. The other distributors, including the stock ones will work, I just wanted to use a recommended distributor with the most adjustment options for the best price.The distributor comes with additional nylon bushings, nylon screws and 2 sets of mechanical advance springs as well as an Allen wrench for adjusting the vacuum advance. Distributor comes in a well packaged plain white box. The D1200 is the black cap model, there are also Blue and Red cap versions available with part numbers D1201 and D1202 respectively.
