Perko water strainers are disigned for easy installation and cleaning. Features include mounting lugs cast into both sides to assure universal mounting, four outside tie rods and a 316 stainless steel strainer basket to minimize electrolysis. Screen hole size diameter .077", 46% open area. Hinged lugs for the cast bronze cover permit easy removal and cleaning of the strainer basket. A drain plug in the bottom casting is provided for easily removing sediment and draining for winterizing.

Bought this and expected to have to modify the height has other reviews had confirmed. I dropped down the filter and sure enough it looked like it was 1/4” too high. But before modifying I tried again and again. And suddenly it went down in the grove. Today I winterized the engine and had to remove the basket. Same problem, to get it down in the grove. Just turn it a little bit and it will eventually fit.

Looks great…. But the little stainless band handle is about a 1/4” too tall.The lid on the strainer basket won’t close…. Until you modify the handle.Now it works.Good news is that they included a rubber gasket for the strainer lid.

Says it would replace my basket but had to modify it to make it fit. Thank goodness for my Dremel. Yes, I used the same product number as my old one.
