I fully plan to use these to paint on, but I haven't reached that stage yet. What I am about to tell you will attest more to their sturdiness that anything else. I am a collector of lava lamps. I have twelve that currently line the top of two 72" bookshelves. The shelves are separated by about 6 inches, because there is a plug on that wall. In order to get the twelfth globe up top, I needed something sturdy that would bridge the two shelves and hold a lava lamp. Lava lamps can be kind of hefty: glass globe, water and wax and it could weigh = anywhere between 5 -12 lbs. Wood panel is currently holding a globe a little over 5 lbs. with nary a buckle or break. Now, I know that these are meant to be canvases, and I fully intend to use the other as such, but my unconventional usage is a demonstration of how strong and well-made these wood panels are. Whatever you paint, or however, you use it, it will last a while.

When these boards arrived I was really impressed with how well made they are. I haven’t used them yet as I’m still not sure what project will be worthy, it has to be something really special. I’m thinking they would be most suitable for something 3D like paste or glue gun as I feel that simply painting on them would be a waste of a quality product. I will update later when I’ve produced the artwork.

I was excited to order this set of two 11 X 14 birch wood professional canvases. I did have concerns that once painted, they would warp. I was pleasantly surprised. The manufacturer packaged the product well, and my two canvases arrived without dents, cracks, or splinters. I was pleased with the quality of the product. The corners were square, and the canvases were level. Thus far, I have only painted a triple coat of white gesso primer on one of the canvases. The first coat of primer seeped into the wood. You will need multiple coats of gesso. After laying three thick coats of gesso down on the canvas, the birch wood did not warp. I use heavy student body paints and am excited to begin painting on these canvases. Considering the quality of the wooden canvases, I do not feel the price point is too high. These canvases come highly recommended.

These are nicely made. The "frame" portion is 1/2" thick (nominal) pine and the panel is 1/8" (3 mm) veneer-core plywood. The plywood surface is perfectly clear grain (as is typical), the frame wood has the occasional tight knot, maybe 2 per unit. The surface finish of the pine is good but would benefit from a little sanding with say 320 grit to improve surface smoothness and ease the sharp edges slightly to prevent any splinters later while handling. I expect for fine-art purposes these would be coated somehow. I actually got these for use as stackable wood trays inside a drawer. The corners of the frame are miter joints, tightly made. The glue-up looks very well done, no visible squeeze out but no gaps or looseness either. The edges appear to have been finished on a belt sander, which is part of why they would benefit from a few licks with a finer grit.Overall, I consider these excellent. Not sure about the price, seems about right to me but I expect these are a commodity in the art-supply market so probably worth a quick shop around. No worries on the quality of these though.I would definitely do it again and recommend.

These birch wood panels are sturdy and provide a great surface for artists who want a durable, smooth base. The 1-1/2" depth gives a professional look, and the quality of the wood ensures that they’re suitable for various mediums, including painting and mixed media.

I ordered this 2-pack of 11' x 14' cradled birch panels.  These are a gallery depth panel at 1.5" inches deep. They have a nice smooth finish and excellent joining of edges so that there are no gaps or imperfections to deal with. I'm using these for oil painting, so I gave it a light sanding with a fine grit sandpaper, wiped it down real well, and then added a couple of coats of acrylic gesso. They work fabulously and I love the Gallery depth which allows me to finish the edges and present my finished artwork unframed.  I’m very pleased with the quality of these wood panels.

I use wood cradled panels for encaustic artwork (pigments in purified beeswax and resin) and these will work well. The wood is smooth and even when I run my hands across the bottom and top of panels and sides, no rough areas on the surfaces and seams. The corner joins are clean and precise corners. I use a leveling gauge when I paint panels laid flat, so I was pleased that these are very level and I don’t have to make any adjustments. The birch wood is a stable, lightweight wood which can easily dent but but these shipped well and arrived without dents so that’s always a relief. These panels are good ones and I would order again and order additional ones in others sizes if they become available.*** Helpful?
