Works great and after cleaning and lubing four reels it looks like I barely touched the jar.

This is the best grease I’ve used over the years. It applies well and seems to last as it should with good consistency.

Reel grease I use on every new reel I buy and I use at end of season keeps bearing smooth and my reels are like butter.

Penn is makes quality reels, I can't say how much I really like the spinfisher Series of reels and have one just about in every size and function. BUT, they aren't 100 percent maintenance free. They can last a lifetime but you need to do general tune ups from time to time. But nothing severe. If your reel needs a total rebuild it's best to just send it to Penn and have them over haul it for a nominal price. But this grease is great, not just for Penn reels but for other's you may have where you need to add extra lube into the internal chassis, or just lubing the spool shaft, etc. Clearly it's a water proof grease and is very tacky. This 2oz can should last you a long long time as you don't use that much..

I will preface my comments by stating that I am no expert on greases or reels...That being said, I wonder if this grease is a little too thick? Or, am I just applying too much? I do slather on a lot of grease inside my reels, and coat all surfaces to reduce the occurrence of internal corrosion. I really like the consistency (and I will admit that I like the color, but it is of no import, and make fun of my wife for being way too color-conscious). I find it spreads well with a small painter's brush.Overall, I like it, but I find that the reels require more effort to run with this grease compared to the factory grease, which is clear. In practical terms, I did not notice it whilst reeling-in a 6.5 pound catfish recently. In the future, I plan to try using "Master" brand "Faucet and Valve Grease" that I purchased at my local hardware store. It is clear, cheaper, also waterproof (as I suspect ALL greases in reality are) and thinner, looking like and having the consistency of the factory grease (Garcia Mitchell). That's my two cents, for whatever it is worth.
