We have been trying different balls to see how they play different. Our initial thoughts were you had more control on these balls but feel heavier than others on contact with racket.

I prefer the Ektelon fireballs, but local organizations are switching over to Penn balls, so I decided to try these as blue balls are too slow and the green balls are elbow-pain inducingly heavy, and the ProPenn reds are CRAZY lively but break easily and early. The purple is by far my favorite Penn ball, but it suffers some of the same breaking issues the reds do (But not to the same degree). It stays consistent for an evening of play, but it's not reusable after that. Hopefully Penn can reformulate / refine their process to make these balls a bit better.
