I was really excited to get these because they are a great price, but they were not worth it IMO. They break too easily, weren't well made so can be hard to stack and the lead often falls out making it hard to work with.

This set is a little pricey for eight pencils, though they're much more than the old push-a-point pencils. These are plenty of fun for adults too, like for decorating a desk at the office. They bring me back to growing up and any fancy pencil was pretty rad stuff, man, but there weren't interlocking pieces like these, almost like a pencil version of Lego bricks.

These are similar to pencils we had in school in the 80s. If the pencil starts getting dull, move it to the top of the pencil and use the next one. Lead is not replaceable. Made of plastic, so it’s not terribly sturdy but not too flimsy either. Package comes with two sets of four. (Adding to my classroom prize box.)

Great fun pencils for my student gifts. They are always sharp and serve as building blocks. The kids are having a ball with them and love all the different colors.

When I was young, I found some pencils that were close to these. I was hooked on them. I loved how I could move the pencils pieces, after I used the first one with pencil lead, then I took the back piece and placed in on the front so that I could have a sharp pencil led again. What a fun and special way for the kids to take these to school, for full use, just like a regular pencil. The only difference is when they would normally need to sharpen their pencil, now that can just pull a piece of new, sharpened led, to the front to start writing again. These pieces are like bullets for a pencil. There are so many different ways to play with this pencil by placing the different beautiful stationary bullets into each other. Either on top, or to the side. They will be able to make planes, arrows, etc., etc. The price is absolutely perfect for additional toys for the grandkids Easter baskets. I think that their baskets will be amazing.

The girls are 4 and 5 and they drew with them for well over an hour. They were frustrated, as well as myself. The lead points kept falling out on some of the sections. If you tried to draw a star, you could get halfway through and the lead would fall out. We did have fun because my granddaughter told me my star looked more like an airplane. I liked that you could use just a few segments and have a realy tiny pencil or you could make them bigger!I would not buy them again for this age group. A little bit older woukd do better with them.

The idea behind these pencils is silly, you have to admit. Why divide up a good pencil like this?Well, as grandparents of preschoolers, we can tell you why: It's fun. We've seen how "cool" it is to be able to take the pencils apart and put them back together again in a different order of colors. So, we're happy to recommend this to others. We will say, though: If they're all taken apart, you can have a lot of little pieces to store away. It's not exactly the most practical gift to give. You can wind up finding little pencil pieces in odd places around your home.

Pencils like these were the best part of school book fairs when I was growing up in the dinosaur days, basically an analog mechanical pencil. My kid loves them just as much as I did.The outside colors are vibrant and the sections fully interchangable, plus they slot together to make fun shapes. The leads keep their points for a long while and write better than most pencils I have in whichever form. I knocked a star off because on all the pencils there are sections with points that just fall out.4 Stars Meets Expectations
