I bought these for loud/noisy mechanical rooms. I like the idea of being able to hear low audio if needed. I was working at a machine shop and had these on. The noise cancellation works great. I had a few loud clanks from the machinery and I heard nothing! They work. They were comfortable and easy to use. There are volume adjustments to either lower or raise the incoming sounds. They feel sturdy and high quality. Way nicer than the foam ear plugs.

I finally took my Peltor 300s to the range today. I installed the 3M Gel replacement pads, which dramatically improved the comfort. They felt great over the two hours I had them on - the old-style passive non-electronic 3M headphones I’ve worn for many years always gave me headaches after an hour or so.I found they worked well for the lighter stuff: .45, 9mm, and .22 were brought to a very listenable level. When I fired my frankengun - a 7.62x54r Mosin in an Archangel frame, with a muzzle brake, the deep “BOOM!” was pretty loud. It wasn’t the “ice pick in the ear” feeling that tells you you’ve forgotten to put your earmuffs on, but if I owned something like an AR10, a “mag dump” might be a little hard on the ears.I also noticed that the ambient sound of the fans in the range cut off every time I racked the slide on any of my handguns - the unit is so sensitive, that it cancelled the “clack” of the slide - very cool, but I could clearly hear my son speak to me. I was coaching him on his marksmanship, and it was nice not to have to scream at each other to be heard. All in all, I liked them and will continue using them. If you’re firing something like a .50 cal regularly, you might want to use earplugs under them.

So I work at a tire shop where loud equipment is used all the time, and hearing protection is a must have if you want to keep your hearing. I've had Peltor RangeGuard (the cheapest pair) for many years (probably since 2016), and they were excellent pairs. However, the last few months, the ear cups recently started shredding and really falling apart, and that caused loud sounds to get through.I wanted a pair of hearing protection with micrphones so I could talk to my coworkers if needed while working. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find hearing protection with microphones to hear the outside world. Since I trust Peltor to make a good pair of hearing protection based on past experience, I decided to get the Tactical 300, and I have no regrets! These hearing protectors muffle sounds very well! I used the headphone jack with my old phone, and these things sound good! Way better than the RangeGuard! I just wish it had slightly more bass to it, but that's not really what these things are for. The main point of them is to protect your ears. Using my riding lawn mower while mowing, the only sound you can hear is a slight hum without the microphones. Zero drone unlike my old pair. I have yet to use these at the shop because I just got them. I'll update the review if anything bad happens. The only thing I wish could've been better was the microphones themselves. The audio quality is nothing to brag about. They sound king of tinny, and with them all the way up, there is a lot of what sounds like static or hissing. Low volume, though, they are ok. Voices are clear at least. They are surround sound thankfully, so you won't get dizzy over the disorientation that comes with many other pairs of mono hearing protection sets.Believe it or not, I think the Peltor RangeGuard has better microphones, but this more expensive and has more features, and the speakers sound way better when playing music. Overall, these are great pair of hearing protectors! If you're looking for something with microphones to hear the outside so you don't have to remove your hearing protectors, these are probably the best ones you will find.

I ran these through an intensive Fighting Pistol course after picking them up on recommendation. I couldn't be happier with their performance. These babies are super comfortable, fit well and sit securely on my head. (I'm a big dude with a big noggin, too, so this is a big deal for me.)Most importantly, these muffs protected my ears over 1000+ rounds and two days of intense pistol training. Moving, shooting and communicating; sliding into kneeling, supine, unconventional/urban prone, etc. These puppies did a great job.Note: I moved up to these after going through two pairs of Howard Leights. One of the things that I really like about these is that my ears don't ring like they used to when I used Howard Leights. While not overpowering or intensely painful, I would always leave the range with a dull ringing in my ears that left me feeling disconcerted, to say the least. Not the case here AT ALL. I wish I started off with these.Note x2: A lot of my teammates had Walkers and Howard Leights, and while I'm not putting those down, I did notice that they had to take their ears off frequently during drill discussions and other lulls in the action (complaints of discomfort, hearing volume, directional sound issues, etc. were constant). I left these on for 8-9 hours a day, minus lunch and briefings. These muffs are very comfortable. I see a lot of guys talking about automatically upgrading to gel pads, but I would recommend that you try the standard muff pads first. I was pleasantly surprised at their quality and comfort. I'm truly impressed with this product. I finally "get it" now when it comes to Peltor.

These work great. Auto shutoff to save the battery. Multiple modes. Comfortable. Compact. Powered by two AA batteries or optional Lithium Ion battery pack. Optimized for human voice. Very sophisticated. My current favorite.I like them so much I purchased a US006-1 case and the optional Lith-Ion rechargeable battery. . Both fit perfectly. One problem: both the headphone's and the battery's manual say that an LED should blink on this Model 300 Tactical headset during charging of the lith-ion battery and become solid after fully charged.I plugged the headset into multiple USB chargers and cords, but no LED blinked. I called 3M Peltor product support. They told me to send it back and gave me a prepaid RMA. They called back shortly afterward and told me the manual was incorrect. The Model 300 does not have an LED indicator. I guess you just plug it in overnight and hope for the best.So I should not have sent it in. They are sending me a new headset (though nothing was wrong with the old one) and a credit for a new battery as they for some reason don't want to send me the battery. What a pain.Bottom line: it's a great headset and the lith-ion battery works, but has no charging indication.

I wanted to find half-decent electronic hearing protection for use at my indoor range, but mostly for when shooting outside with other people.Hearing protection was my primary focus, with the electronics quality being secondary. This headset doesn't compromise on either one. The hearing protection is strong enough that I could fire off 308s without any concern (still double plugged for the .50) and I suspected this as the NRR is high. However, I was blown away by the audio quality from the electronics. At a normal setting, it is as though you have no hearing protection on, and the audio is extremely natural. You can also crank up the settings and give yourself super human hearing. They are extremely comfortable, but I did find them to cause some discomfort when I left them on for several hours. This is very rare for me to have them on for so long, so I won't consider this too bad. You also can purchase a set of gel cups for about $50 which would make these super comfy for long periods of time.
