Product Description

The PEAKEEP model MHP315 and another brands look like they could be identical, so once some customers bought one of each to find out. Ours are identical in some ways but not completely. Customers like this PEAKEEP clock a little better.

The knobs and switches on the PEAKEEP are a lot more ergonomic than the ones on the other brands. That's kind of important on an alarm clock, because we will probably be handling it every day. And the appearance and workmanship of PEAKEEP are smoothly and don’t look like cheap toys at all that performance on other brands.

This clock is about 3 1/8 (L)* 3 1/8 (H) *1 5/8 (W). It’s compact, but not too small. It’s big for travel clock but amazingly turned out to be the perfect solution for your bedroom clock.

It is a compact travel alarm with large numbers and a face that will light up temporarily when a button on top is pressed. It needs no electrical outlet and operates on a single AA battery and uses very little power. It makes no noise and the controls are easy to figure out.

This is my 3rd purchase of this clock. They are accurate, alarm works great and best of all truly quiet. Small enough not to stand out in your decor but numbers are large enough to see easily even from a distance.

Delighted with purchase, it's well built, easy to use and keeps accurate time. The night light button on top doubles as a torch at night. Great, no longer rely on mobile phone for alarm.

I wanted to stop relying on my mobile as an alarm and the sound of a ticking clock drives me mad so this has been perfect ! Easy to use and simple.

Not the smallest clock for travelling, but price and quality great. Silent and good alarm.

Exactly what I was looking for. Doesn't make noise, has a snooze option and a night light. Hopefully it will last long!

The Peakeep and the Pluteck clocks look like they could be identical, so I bought one of each to find out. They are identical in some ways but not completely. I like this Peakeep clock a little better. The knobs and switches on the Peakeep are a lot more ergonomic than the ones on the Pluteck. That's kind of important on an alarm clock, because you will probably be handling it every day. That is the main difference I can see between the 2 clocks. Both clocks have the same limitation on battery voltage, but the Peakeep actually tells you about it on the instruction sheet that comes with the clock, and the Pluteck says nothing about it. Basically, rechargeable batteries like NiMh are not recommended because their voltage is a little lower than the regular alkaline type batteries. If you put in a new alkaline AA or even a used one that measures more than 1.42 volts, everything works. Once the voltage falls below about 1.4 volts, the snooze and the light will quit working, but the clock still runs and the alarm will still go off.So if the light or the snooze feature on your clock all of a sudden quits working but the clock still runs, don't worry, all you need is a new battery!I like this clock. It has a clear, easy to read face and hands, and every function about it is totally obvious. It is nearly silent, I can't hear it at all from 1 foot away.I am using it to replace a 30 year old Seiko/Lorus clock that has been the most amazing thing all these years and has taken many falls to the floor with no damage. This $9 Peakeep is not in the same class as far as build quality. But for the price I think it deserves 5 stars.Update Feb 2019:6 months ago I put a freshly charged Panasonic eneloop battery (NiMh) in this clock just to see how long it would run on one charge. It is still running. The light and snooze still work. This is great. I won't be burning up alkaline batteries in these clocks anymore. I took the eneloop out just to measure the voltage, then put the same eneloop back in without charging it. I want to see how much longer it goes. The voltage I measured at 1.276 volts. An alkaline will quit operating the light once it gets down below about 1.4 volts. This is not as strange as it might seem. Alkaline and NiMh batteries have a very different voltage versus load characteristic. The voltage of an alkaline will drop quite a bit as soon as the normal operating load is put on it. The voltage of a NiMh will hardly drop at all under the same load. I have bought 2 more of these clocks and all 3 of them are working the same, good, and quiet.Update December 30, 2019:Of the 3 of these I bought, one quit running after about 10 months. The 2nd one all of a sudden got noisy after being used for about 9 months. But it is only noisy when it is laying on its back. When it is standing up it is still pretty quiet, but not as quiet as when new. Both of those clocks spent about 8 hours per day "laying down" which is of course the most stable position when they are on a mattress. The 3rd clock has been going for 19 months and is still accurate and reasonably quiet, but not as quiet as when new. That clock just stands upright all the time in the front hall. It is not used as an alarm clock. I don't think it would be a good bedroom clock at this point (not quiet enough).I guess I could conclude that laying down is not good for these clocks. Or maybe that isn't it, maybe they just have a short life on the average, with a lot of variation from one to another.I have a way now of keeping the bedroom clock standing up all the time and I bought a 4th clock to use that way. I really like the simple ergonomics of this clock. I would gladly pay $20 or $30 each for these things if I knew they would be "forever" quality like my old Seiko/Lorus. But they are not.The Pluteck was worse - got very noisy almost immediately so I threw it away a long time ago.
The Cranky Old Retired Lady

For a while I have been looking for a small, easy to operate, easy to read at night clock for my bedroom. Tired of the digital madness caused by flashing read outs after a power failure, I decided analog was right for me and this small, compact alarm fills the bill. Pros: Small size so it fits easily on a night stand or can be moved where you need it. It could travel easily. It is easy to set time and alarm. It operates on one AA battery. It is quiet. It has a great nite light feature--you press the snooze button on top and it lights the entire face of the clock easily. In the dark the easily found button is a great feature. Cons: So far none in a week and a half of operation. This little clock (fits in the palm of your hand) is performing well and living up to my expectations as something easy to set and read the time. As a cranky old retired lady I don't need pulsing, digital displays to distract and frustrate me every time the fickle power decides to click off just long enough to inflict bright, red flashing torture at 9 million candle power. Forget water boarding...just put digital clocks in all terrorist prisons and break off the buttons and knobs that reset them. That should do it. Any way, save those precious minutes of retired life. Get yerself a frustration free time piece. Punch that snooze button...you're retired! And if you are still slaving away in the 9-5 world, make mornings easier with this little gem.UPDATE: February 7, 2018 I loved this petite, lighted alarm clock so much I ordered a second one for my desk by the computer to keep an eye on the time. Second one is a slightly different (but better for me) alarm button. Clock number one is keeping time and has an effective but pleasant alarm tone. I love it for the bedside with the lighted face (at the touch of a button). Soooooooo much better than my old, obnoxious BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ from the digital alarms of my fractured, analog-loving past. :)
