The setup was quick, and the remote’s design is intuitive, making it simple to control everything from volume to media playback without needing to use the Xbox controller. It’s a great addition to my entertainment setup, offering convenience and ease of use. If you’re someone who frequently uses their Xbox for media, this remote is a must-have for smooth navigation and control.

Absolutely LOVE this remote. I game and I also stream on most services like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Disney+ etc and this makes things much easier. You never accidentally fast forward or back out of a movie cause the dog sat on the controller. It works very well. It doesn’t work to control the tv, only Xbox. At least I can’t figure out how to work it for the TV. I even followed the directions on the Xbox itself but I don’t think it’s the remotes issue, I think it’s the tv. It is backlit which is nice except the Xbox buttons aren’t backlit (a,b,x,y) and there’s no bumpers or trigger buttons but the play pause and rewind/fast forward buttons make up for that. The feel of the remote is this soft plastic so it’s not hard and clunky like most remotes. I bought this twice! First one actually lasted me a year before I lost it during my move recently. It was in great condition still too so it would have lasted longer I’m sure. the softness didn’t wear out, the buttons all responded just as well as this new one that I have now. The buttons on the new one are a little stiffer, but they will get easier to push as time goes. It feels like the backlight on this new one is way brighter than my older one which is great! And what I loved about the last one and this new one is the light slowly fades away and is motion activated! I really recommend this purchase for anyone who streams using their Xbox. It’s very well built and well designed!

Got one of these since while I had a PS4 media remote, I was kind of underwhelmed by it, and because my friends all play Xbox One, it was pretty inconvenient to switch to PS4 just to watch videos or movies. The remote doesn't need to be paired, as it can control any Xbox One through its front IR receiver, even in Power Saving mode. Putting the batteries in and turning on your Xbox with it for the first time is magical, as it responds instantly. This ability to control any X1 out of the box is also extremely convenient for me, as there's two X1's in my house, and I can also take it with me to my friends' houses if we plan to watch movies there. The only problem with this method as opposed to Bluetooth like on PS4 remotes is that you'll need to point directly at the Xbox to control it--but that's something we've dealt with since the 80's, anyway. The build quality is magnificent, especially for its price. It's made with matte plastic, with texturing that makes it feel super premium. A glossy plastic strip runs along the sides of the remote to cleverly mask the infrared receiver at the top of the remote, and there isn't even a visible cutout for the battery compartment--the entire bottom comes off to reveal the AAA batteries underneath. The buttons all have a satisfying clickiness to them, and have the same texturing as the remote body, making sure the whole thing feels consistent. The remote's buttons also have a backlight that turns on when a button is pressed or it detects movement; the lighting is just strong enough to let you clearly see, but not bright enough to be distracting if you've turned the lights down for a movie. The ABXY buttons and Xbox button aren't backlit, however. The button layout is slightly awkward compared to other remotes. While I greatly appreciate the ABXY buttons being put in a flattened diamond shape, what makes the layout awkward is how the playback controls, as well as Start and Select (or Menu and View, as you might call them), are put up at the very top with the Xbox button. I'm very much used to remotes that put the playback controls below the D-pad, so it feels kind of off in this regard.A big caveat if you plan to use this remote, or any Xbox One remote for that matter, is that X1 remotes are incapable of controlling the TV directly, and must send the signal to the X1 which then relays it to the TV. This doesn't sound bad at first--and it isn't, if your TV can send and receive signals via HDMI--but the Xbox One lacks an IR emitter, meaning you'll need to either buy an external one that hooks up via a 3.5mm jack on the back, or an entire Kinect. Yeah... I actually have a Kinect, and as a result it works quite consistently, but at one point I also had an external IR emitter, and that was pretty unreliable since I couldn't stick it to my TV's IR emitter directly. This isn't really a fault of the remote, however; this is just due to shortsightedness on Microsoft's part when it came to designing the Xbox One--remember that at one point the Kinect was not only standard, but required.Anyway, this is an excellent remote, that plays to the Xbox One's strengths well and also works despite the console's weaknesses. Certainly worth it if you like using your X1 for playing and streaming media.

Other reviews generally were really happy so I figured I'd try it out. Meets all my needs. Feels so well made. Very pleased I went with this instead of the official Xbox remote.Remote is a great length. Slightly shorter than my Sony TV remote. Fairly easy to access any button you need (no different than a typical remote of this size). Feel is fantastic with a soft touch coating. Look is very modern with even the battery access being hidden without any noticeable extra lines on the remote. It's clear a good amount of thought and design went into this. My Xbox was already set to control my Sony TV (turn on / turn off with unit) and this remote was set to work with Xbox as soon as the batteries went in, so my default I could control my TV volume with no additional steps. The backlighting on the remote is a nice soft blueish white. More white than blue, but it looks pretty lux.Only two slight negatives I will mention:1. The illumination is triggered by motion and as such once you pick it up and stare at it the illuminated keypad almost immediately starts to dim off again. It's a bit odd, almost as though it should stay on longer by default after sensing motion. Is this a dealbreaker? Absolutely not.2. The center toggle (left, right, up, down) works just fine, but I find the size of my hand and the shape of the remote causes it to "slip" just slightly when I am using that center toggle. I may train myself to hold it in a way to not cause this by default and again. Is this a dealbreaker? Absolutely not.Overall I do love it and rate it 5 stars as a result.

I will admit that I did not have much hopes when I bought this remote. I had previously owned the official Microsoft Xbox One remote and it did not work as well as I hoped. The way I have my entertainment system set up, my normal day to day tv and movie watching goes through my Xbox One. The cable DVR set top box goes through the Xbox One HDMI pass through and then to my 7.2 receiver, and finally on to my TV. I have the Xbox One set up to control the receiver, Cable STB, and TV already so this remote was ready to go out the box.I love the fact that it not only controls the volume and channels, but it also works with the FF, RR, Play/Pause, Skip on my DVR/STB. I had trouble with that on the MS remote. It also has the number pads that work flawlessly. The one thing I hated with the MS is trying to use the One Guide to jump around on the TV channels, you would have to scroll from channel 1100 all the way to 1800. Now I can simpley input the numbers and there it goes, so much quicker. It works flawlessly with all the app I use on my Xbox One. Watching videos on Netflix, Hulu, HBOgo, Amazon, Crunchyroll, YouTube, etc. is a simple and the response if fast.I also like the silver Xbox Home button on the top, it is easy to find when turning everything on and looks great in contrast with the black. But that also raises one of the issue I have with this remote, there is not power off button. I know you can hold the Xbox Home button for 3 seconds and select "power off" but that is a few more presses than what is needed. The old Harmony remote that I was using had a button for power so there is a IR signal available. This would nearly be a perfect remote, but the one function it doesnt have is a button to view the recorded shows on my DVR. I know that is more of a fault the Xbox One's capabilities and programming, so I did not want to ding it too much. Some of my other minor gripes is the buttons all feel the same, often time there are dimples or bumps on the 5 to center your finger, or the volume and channel buttons have varied feels to them to differentiate. Even though it is back-lite, I like to keep my eye on the TV and not have to look down at the remote to know what button I am pressing. All in all I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it is a very functional remote that lets me hide the remote for the TV, Cable STB, and Receiver so I can just use this one for every day use. The only reason I keep the others around is so I can do some tweaks to the other components when need be.
