This part simply "snaps" in place of the original, which made it very easy to replace! It's a plug-and-play installation and it went well for me, but I think I was lucky to have a "newer" 15-20 year old vehicle which worked well!I drained enough coolant from the overflow so that it wouldn't leak out when pulling the original sensor from the overflow tank. Then I simply swapped it, it's snapped-in tight and took some force but the new one went in and seems water-tight!I could see some older overflow tanks being brittle and cracking...but mine from 2008 took the swap just fine!I recommend this over swapping the whole overflow tank if your tank is otherwise i good condition!
