Great buy. Very sturdy parts with thick metal hardware and a nice height for a full stretch scratch! The cats took to it instantly and have been using it regularly with zero signs of wearm Seems like it'll last a long while. The black fits in nicely with modern decor.

This is the second one we have gotten. The first one we got somewhere else. We had it for about 3 years so it was time for a new one. It’s simple but cute and very sturdy.

BUYER BEWARE: This is not the same product that earned 1,000+ positive reviews! We bought the original almost a year ago, and it was amazing. The one being sold now is a cheap POS posing as a quality product, standing on the laurels of its predecessor.Anyway, we loved the first one so much we bought another. But it’s a clearly different product now—the main post is two pieces, much thinner, and shorter as well. This thing is junk and didn’t even last two months. Very unstable, and when our cat finally toppled it over, it didn’t survive the fall. Do not recommend.

My cats went for this right away. It is a great size and Ike loves perching on it. Very sturdy, my cats weigh 12 lbs and have not tipped it either by scratching or jumping on it. Highly recommend!

6 months after buying this, I'm finally giving it a review. The post looks great and shows no appreciable wear. I like that it's black..not many of these are. It's the perfect height and the perch on top is big enough for my cat to sit on top. She loves sitting up there while playing with dangle toy the post comes with. I've had a few of these over the years and this one is absolutely top shelf! Beautiful, durable, reasonably priced and the cat loves it!

The scratcher is pretty and easy to assemble, but the wood on the lower part of the pillar stripped where the double-headed screw goes in to connect it to the second, smaller part od the pillar. The washer that holds the screw must have come undone, because it became wobbly right as I was tightening it. I think this was because I tried to tighten i too much.That being said, don't tighten it too far-- I tried to do an extra turn to line up the fur strip on the side and that led to this problem. I fixed it with some wood filler and by carefully hammering nails at an angle to connect the two parts of the pillar, burying them in the fur for safety.Since that was partly due to user error, I only knocked one star off. Otherwise, the scratcher is nice and seems durable!

Very easy to assemble, sturdy. A little more weight would make it more stable. It would be good to have the top plate more prominent; the the cat seems to love jumping up on it. Then it's safer if it had larger platforms, both Top and bottom.Also few more hanging toys would make it better.

I already had a scratching post very similar to this in beige which works fine for that space. The decor in our living room is much darker with black and grays everywhere. Just bought a new dark gray sofa and wanted a new central scratching post to deter my kitty from going for my new expensive furniture.This fits the bill wonderfully! Love the black materials and how hefty it is. I was a tad weary from the reviews about a couple of points.1. The bolt at the bottom protruding too far. After getting it tightened pretty good, it doesn't scrape or scratch the floor. There is just enough space with the carpet material so that it doesn't touch my hardwood floors. Follow the instructions and it'll be fine.2. The seam on the corner being a weak point and fraying causing premature failure. I tilted the post 45° so that the weak corner faces inward. It's against the furniture so my cat won't touch that part frequently. I'll post an update if that doesn't give extended life.3. Hardware is super visible on top. Yes, the top bolt is silver metal and normally visible. I used a black paint marker to color it in and it looks great. Wish they'd make this bolt black from the factory, but easily remediated.I have a good kitty that only uses scratching posts. He went to this immediately. Uses it and LOVES using it. I kinda hate the bottom carpet fabric because it's not uniform, but it fits the decor well and is easily overlooked.Also acts like a drink table on one side of the sofa.I'm pretty satisfied for the price. The negative review points are pretty easy to fix with some ingenuity.

My 2 cats immediately took to this scratching post. They use it as a play station too, where they race to see who gets to the pedestal where they are positioned perfectly for batting the other from above.I especially like the size of this scratcher. It's tall enough for them to fully stretch out while they scratch and also heavy enough that they don't knock it over.

This was our third attempt at purchasing a scratching post for our newly adopted kitty. We tried rounded and wall mounted ones with no success and realized maybe he’d prefer a rectangular one because he likes to scratch on the corner of the couch. Watched a review for this one on YouTube and glad we took the plunge! He started scratching on it soon after we put it out. Oddly enough he seems afraid of the toy that’s attached to it, maybe it has a smell he doesn’t like? Also, as others said the bolt on the bottom is not counter-sunk, so if you have hardwood floors it’ll scratch/slide around. It’s likely an easy fix to just make the hole bigger yourself, but for now we’ve just stuck a small rug under it. It’s very sturdy and I’m so happy he more inclined to scratch this than our couches!
