It takes single AA battery and works very well. This clock keeps good time and can be seen in the dark. The battery life is very good, an excellent item this is my second unit. highly recommended.

Works well to keep me on time. Have it stuck on my bathroom mirror. Hard to see the hands unless you are very close.
