I've been digitizing old negatives, slides and 8mm movies from the 1940s thru about 2010. Much of the original media has been stored in old shoe boxes for decades, and were often very dusty.It's possible to edit out dust and other flaws in a photo editor, but it can be time consuming and frustrating.So it's best to clean your media before scanning it. These tools make it easy to remove dust from film & slides, saving you time later.Recommended.

Air bulb and pen-brush work fine, but squeeze brush does not release enough air to make any difference.

The cleaning pen had glue all around the felt tip that smudged all over my lenses and made a huge mess

For the price, this kit contains items that I'll have another set to throw in my bag and always have on hand. The small rocket type blower is the star of the show. It is just right for on the go size and power. Much more portable than the one i use in my office, while still prividing a good blast. The mini brush blower seems ok for stubborn particles. It will definitely get some use. I do like that the brush is removable. Don't expect a lot of air from it, just small pops. Now, as for the pen brush, I enjoy its portability but here is where I will use caution. It's brush bristle is pretty firm and while not abrasive, it's not real soft. I can't speak much for the pad as I don't trust those to not scratch anyway and won't use it much. I can say it's double sided and the attachment is nicely flexible. I'd buy another set of these for my intended use.

I am doing a large project - using a scanner to convert 30 year old slides to images. I started with the idea that this was going to be easy. But the slides have dust and even larger specks sitting on them. I have had to clean every slide before scanning. That's where this kit comes into play. Unfortunately, blowing the dust off with the bulb does not do much good. I have had to use the brush on every single slide - then blew the dust off. My experience is that slides are pretty strong - the brush doesn't hurt them at all. This is not a tutorial on how to clean the slides. I am a complete novice on the best way to clean the slides, but I am sure this kit has to tools you need.
