I glazed candle holders and they were perfect for the Christmas table, had no issue with cone 6 firing

This bottle of glaze arrived in a plastic bottle sealed in plastic to prevent any unpleasant spillages. The bottle contains 473ml of gold glaze which is a good amount, as the application of this glazes does require several coats for the best results.I am fairly new to pottery (started at the beginning of 2024) so I am still learning techniques and mastering the use of different glazes. Metallic glazes is a recent thing for me and I have found they require more patience to perfect. It is worth pointing out that this glaze also doesn’t require a clear glaze coat either. This glaze is easy to apply (with sponges, brushes or even dipping) but do bear in mind to give the glaze a good stir or shake before use to ensure the metallic solution is fully mixed into the solution. I would also suggest not overly thinning the glaze (although it can be thinned with water if necessary). On my first test I applied x4 coats to my piece at the bisque stage, as less coats will create more of an iron oxide brown tone rather than the golden metallic lustre desired. I fired my initial experimental piece to cone 6 (1222°C) and the results were good at this temperature. The glaze is currently unavailable to purchase at the time of reviewing, but if you do get a chance to buy this glaze, I would definitely recommend it, the results are lovely and once fired the glaze is also safe for use on dinnerware too. I can’t wait to experiment further!

Really nice glaze! Fired to cone 6 and where there’s 3 nice coats, it fires a really nice lustrous bronzey gold

It is very easy to use. Brush, sponge, dipping or pouring - whichever technique you prefer gives beautiful results. I usually apply it with a brush and the coating adheres properly. It needs to be cooked between Cone 6-9 (1222°C - 1280°C). Important note: Do not use with clear glaze, cook directly. It meets FDA food safety standards, so you can use it safely in dinnerware. The most important advantage for me is that it does not contain toxic substances and lead. It is reassuring that it complies with ASTM D4236 standards. The 473ml bottle is enough for medium-sized projects.

I bought this on a recommendation, and they were right. Be sure to follow the directions as too few layers will product the wrong color. I'll be buying more in the future.

The first time I put on 4 thin coats, and it came out brown at cone 6. I put on 3 thick coats at cone 6 and it came out gold shiny but had raised bumps. On a small piece I think it would be fine

This is about the 5th gold glaze I have tried since starting back into pottery in July 2023. Most run terribly and never really achieve any gold luster. Not too long ago I saw someone raving about this glaze on Facebook and decided to try it. I won't ever try another. It's stunning on the inside of pots and although never quite as gold on when I use it on the outside, it does give me a nice metallic finish. I used 4 coats on the handle of this small square pot. I wanted to see if it would get runny if used on a surface that has the potential to run. It did not. It did obscure much of the texture on this handle, but I think if the texture had been deeper, it would have shown through. I used 3 or 4 coats on the interior and it's perfect. Fired at cone 6.

It still gets 5 stars because you can’t knock a metallic glaze for being finicky because they all are. That being said this still performed better than any other mid/high fire alternatives that I’ve tried like amaco’s saturation gold at cone 6. I’ve just started playing with it on some test tiles and it does seem to prefer being fired flat instead of vertically. My brush strokes were extremely consistent on the vertical test tile but I got a mix of bronze and gold after doing 4 coats. My brushing was less consistent on the star and I think I did about 3 coats but it came out a better gold regardless of the thin spots.I think the quality is good- especially for the cost but I’d be lying if I said this glaze is going to be easy to use. I think it’s going to take a lot of trial and error and testing to master other folks amazing results but all in all I’m very excited to have found it and I’m excited to keep playing with it!

It didn't say that the glaze was mid fire in the ceramic kilm. So my ceramic piece came out black instead of gold.

As someone who was looking for the gold luster look without the gold luster price, this glaze is a super solid alternative. I found that 3-4 coats achieves the metallic shine I was looking for. Any less than 3 coats has kind of an iron oxide, brown look, still pretty but not gold. I fire in an electric kiln, cone 6. Would absolutely recommend!
