Placed these as a path from backdoor to driveway. Heat pumps that generate condensation on the pavement are next to the back door creating shallow puddles going to the yard. The stepping stones are high enough to allow a dry/non-slippery path over the water, and also allow the water to flow to the yard. So far we haven't had a continuous below freezing to determine if the ice builds up in the stepping stones or continues to flow between them.

I first saw rubber stepping stones at my local home improvement store and they looked nice but were expensive. When I saw these, my curiosity was again peaked. I knew exactly where I would put them and that was near the hose spigot outside where water tends to accummulate and make a puddle.I still looked around to make sure that there wasn't a better place. I did try them on the uneven grass but I wasn't fond of the look. I also imagined the grass would just grow right through. I do, however; think they look nice placed on top of a mulch base, especially with two rows spaced evenly all around by 1".But for general pathways throughout my yard, I found that I preferred the look of flagstone by far. Then, I figured it out. After receiving and trying to place these rubber stones, I realized that they do not resemble stepping stones at all. They look like what they essentially are. Rubber mats. So naturally, they will look best in a place where you would normally want a rubber mat to begin with. I think that keeping that tidbit in mind will help you to place them more effectively. As a possible con, one should know that these will move out of place quite easily and a second consideration is that this look could be quite costly. On the plus side, they are sure easier to carry around then big slabs of flagstone!
