Update: I have now used the batter dispenser so I feel I can make a better review. A full cake mix does fit in this container, but it pours out so insanely slow. like so insanely slow! It almost defeats the purpose. I am excited a cake mix fits in here and it washed up nicely in the dishwasher.I bought this because after 2 of the plastic dispensers have broken on me in recent years, I thought a metal one would hold up better and not need replaced every 2 years. However, this is much smaller and is very slow to open and slow to close... which I can foresee will be very annoying when there is batter in it. It also doesn't have a lid which I realized from the picture, but all the plastic ones did and the plastic one also held a full box of cake batter. Disappointed but it'll do the job.

Bought this because it was advertised as not leaking. First time I tried to with my normal pancake batter, it leaked almost 1/2 cup of the three I put in it over the time it took to cook 18 pancakes, six at a time on my griddle. Don't see any adjustment possible of the plastic valve at the bottom. Now I have to put a cut under it to catch the drips and keep refilling.That aside, the dispensing mechanism works fine. Cleaning is easy except between the handle and moving portion on the bottom. No way to get in there and remove batter (due to leaking, it gets all over the lower portion of the handle and valve) except soaking. What ever you do, don't let the batter dry or its there for good unless you boil it out.

The product works as advertised. Depending on your pancake mix consistency it may drip out of the bottom. I simply use a paper plate or a small saucer to catch the drippings. If your batter is really thin, I would suggest not filling it too high as most will drip out of the bottom. Make sure you clean the bottom opening and slide so that it will not stick on the next usage. Just work the handle a few times with your normal dishwater filled inside.

I always wanted one of these, I have a terrible time ladling pancake mix consistently. I haven't used it except once and it worked as expected though I need a little practice. This held nearly all of my mix for 6 medium pancakes, so it's pretty good sized. Just a simple container with a grip handle that you squeeze when you want it to pour a stream of mix into your pan. I have to say it does make creating a round shape much easier! I saw several types of these, mostly plastic, but this is a nice stainless steel so I purchased it for that reason. Also, it looks good in my cupboard of gadgets, who can live without another convenience anyway? The price was certainly good compared to what the plastic fancy units are selling for. This may be a simple version but it is a tried and true design, time-tested in restaurants, and that makes it worth it to me.

I found this product to work quite well. I was concerned about some reviews that said it leaks, and when I first cleaned it and ran water through it, it's very true that water leaks out rapidly. But in use with pancake batter, I found it did not leak.It will, of course, drip, which is a different matter. There is always that bit of excess batter that collects at the bottom and will continue to drip off between uses. It makes sense to set the dispenser down on a rubber mat or some other easily cleaned surface when you're not actually dispensing.It's a little on the small side for large volume use, but holds enough batter for half a dozen large pancakes. I don't believe in small pancakes!I paid less than $6 for this item.

For those who complain it leaks... you need a new pancake recipe. As long as you don't make watery, drippy, thin pancakes, this is a great product. I used it for the first time last weekend. It worked great. I think there was a drip or two, but for the price, this is fantastic. Using this made less mess than using a ladle and dripping it across the griddle and on the counter top. Plus, I can have the kids make pancakes as well.UPDATE:I have now owned this for over a year now. It has been cleaned in the dishwasher numerous times and it still works like it did when I bought it. Leaves a few drips, but putting a paper towel underneath it while it sits makes it work and clean up easily. For the price, this is still a great product.
