Got a pair of the 8" because I wanted a pair of the biggest coax speakers I could get for a weird omnidirectional speaker/floor lamp project. The cone/surround diameter is 7" not 8" but they're exactly 8" around including the mounting ring. These actually sound great for the price. T/S parameters aren't available so I just threw them in an oversized sealed enclosure and the bass response is fantastic for coaxials. Lots of sparkle and boom, little bit of a dip in the midrange, probably more a function of the omni directional dispersion than the speakers though. I skipped the led function and haven't tested the water resistance, but I don't expect my living room lamps to get soaked very often.

had them wired to a 150w amp not even turned up all the way and they blew within a week.

Make sure that you don't try to use two different products because the manufacture will make sure they won't fit each other. I had DS18 Cans for my speaker tower and they didn't fit at all. This company also will charge you 20.00 on a return, not the kind of business I'm looking for with Amazon.
