I’ve never had a trail cam before, but this one was really cool. The battery life is really good even in very cold weather (I have been using alkaline Duracell batteries) , and although I’ve had to gain experience with the various settings, it’s definitely showing me the wildlife that is visiting my yard both day and night. I wish the Wi-Fi had a longer range, but overall it’s a really cool camera with good resolution and with the proper card for memory, it allows you to take a lot of pictures. I highly recommend it.

Good value for the money. Very user friendly set up. One complaint I had, is that is did not come with a mounting strap. Luckily I had one from an old trail cam. Also a minor complaint is that I would have preferred it if the switch had the ON and OFF setting on either side with the Set in the middle. It is too easy to accidentally slide the switch to the SET position rather than ON and end up with nothing. Currently it is OFF/ON/SET. Fairly good quality photos and video EDIT: Mounting strap found. It was in between a double layer of cardboard in the box. Luckily I had not thrown out the box. It can be easily missed. Therefore, I am upgrading my rating to a 5 star

The camera takes pretty good quality photos and videos, and has excellent IR illumination at night. There is some tendency for colour photos and video to have a blue tinge to them and at the start of a video there is often a small area that flickers, but I find it fine for my purposes. I am still trying to optimize the settings - at high sensitivity it certainly can be triggered by a squirrel 15 m away, but also by moths at 2m at night.I have the impression that most such cameras operate at 12V, but this one operates at 6V with two banks of 4 AA batteries in series (= 6 V) and the banks connected in parallel. It is not necessary to have both banks full of batteries for it to operate, but, of course, the battery life is doubled if both banks are used. The battery life depends on all the usual factors - temperature and how much the camera is used, especially at night with the IR illumination. So far, I have been using rechargeable AA batteries, and they work ok and for a few days, depending on use. Lithium batteries are by all accounts more suitable, but I have not tried them yet. I recently acquired a sealed 6V lead acid battery which I connect via the DC adapter port. So far, that works well but I have not enough experience yet to determine the time between charges, though I expect several weeks. There have been some glitches with the controls - for example, if the batteries are low, it may not turn on properly (gives a repeated clicking, and no menu comes up) and it may not turn off properly until you remove a battery from each bank. Often, the first video is simply a fixed image lasting the video time - but all subsequent ones are ok. But nothing serious so far. I use good quality 32GB micro SD cards with adapters and have had zero problems.Maybe more expensive cameras have this feature, but it would be nice to have a mode where the video time updates: that is, if the video is set for 30 s, say, but motion is detected before the end, at 25 s, say, then it updates the video time by another 30 making it 55s long, for example. That way, the video will be as long as the subject is in the field of view and moving. This mode would have a settable hard upper limit on video length. In summary, a great entry level trail camera.

This trail cam is pretty easy to set up and has a lot of settings to work with. The day light pictures are very sharp and the day light video clips are good. The pictures have good detail and you have many different size options. Night pictures are black and white and also are good, it is easy to make out what the camera captured. Night time pictures took 50-60 foot out. The shutter speed seems fast as advertised. Battery life has been very good. I use quality name brand batteries in the cam, so make sure to use them not generic/cheap brands, maybe that is why some reviews claim bad battery life. Also make sure to take off ALL the plastic protective strips, not just off the lens but also the PIR sensors and the infra red light array. The camera was out in an all day long rain storm with heavy rain blown wind and when I checked it the next day it was completely dry inside, so it is weather proof. I like you can check your pictures right on the LCD display with out need to remove the SD to a computer. The included USB cable worked fine and the SD read on my computer right away when inserted, so all the ways to access your pictures work without a hitch. The info stamps for the pictures have all the details I need. For the money this is a great trail cam as long as you have realistic expectations of what it can capture. If you are expecting professional grade pictures, especially night ones that look like broadcast natures shows, then this is not what you want...and will have to spend a whole lot more money to get. But if you want good solid pics that will show you what critters are coming around and good enough to post on FB etc. then give this trail cam a try.
