These gloves are exceptionally warm and comfortable for a reasonable price. Would purchase another pair without hesitation.

I moved to the Chicago area and decided it would be a good idea to have some cold-weather, heavy duty mittens, for when I have to clear snow and the temps are single-digits or below. When these mittens arrived I thought they felt too thin and light to have good insulation. That 3M Thinsulate is awesome! These have been really great cold-weather mittens. They have an inner "glove" liner (individual finger sleeves inside the main mitten) to help add layers for warmth without adding bulk or weight. The leather in the "touch" areas is soft and pliable but tough, like leather. I've used them in weather as cold as -5f so far, and as long as I keep my hands busy, they stay plenty warm. If my hands are still, like when I'm pushing my snowblower for a long length of time, the cold does come through. They claim they are usable down to "-40." Um..that's a stretch. But they are warm enough for winter use, so long as you're south of the Yukon territory.

I really wanted to love these mittens. They are warmer than gloves, but not as warm as I hoped they’d be. The insulation is thin. In northern Wisconsin, it’s been in the single digits with below zero windchills, and my fingers were cold.

This is a very nice pair of mittens. The wind chill was 25 below when I walked my dog and my hands got cool, and when I had to take one off to scoop the poop that hand didn't warm up... the fabric fingers in the mitten did not allow me to make a fist inside to warm back up as I had preciously done with wool mittens. Next trip I wore a pair of wool gloves inside my new mittens and that kept my hand warm in the quick clean-up job. I got the Large size because of others' reviews and that was good or I couldn't have got the wool gloves inside. Highly recommended.

Gloves seem like they will hold up. Inside the mitten your fingers get separated like a glove. I hate that, if I wanted gloves that is what would have bought. Snow blowing in 16 degrees F. Hands were freezing. kept my hands as warm as my Walmart mittens.(not warm) When the wind blow I could feel the wind going right through the back of the Glove. There is no way these Gloves will hold keep your hands warm. I am now back on the hunt for a pair of good Mittens.Update: The temp has been low, but not so windy. I was removing snow and Sweating. The Gloves stayed dry and kept my hands warm. The Walmart gloves I would have to turn inside out to get them to dry and even sometimes they would still have some moister. I have moved the rating to 4 because after multiple uses they are holding up and staying dry, which have been keeping my hands warm.

My teenage boys have been through many different pairs of gloves or mittens for downhill skiing, until we found these. I just bought them each a second pair because they love them so much, and with consecutive days of skiing, one pair can dry out and they'll have a dry second pair to use. These stay very warm - love the design of having a glove fit on the inside of a mitten! And the thick but soft leather on the palms is great for use on the tow ropes. Lots of other ski gloves in the past have been shredded by lots of use on the tow ropes, but the ropes barely leave on mark on these. The long wrist cuffs are also great to keep snow off your wrists. We all love these and highly recommend!

I just received these and tested them today in 5F (top) to 20F(bottom) skiing. They were comfortable and worked quite well. I have what I consider normal mens sized hands and I bought a large. Possible they were a tad small, it would've been hard to get a glove liner in them, but they kept me so warm on this cold, windy day that I didn't need a glove liner. For the price, they were a very good buy for me and should give me many years of wear, unless I lose one of course!

These are the first mittens, ever, to keep my hands dry. While my hands never get cold, they are always, always wet. I love how high the cuff comes up helping to keep the snow out of them. The only feature they don't have that I do miss, but it is not a deal breaker, is the draw-string to wrap around the wrist so that if you accidentally drop the mitten, it acts as a safety and keeps the mitten attached to you.
