I didn't really expect much for the price as I utilize multi-thousand $ scopes daily. I purchased the DMS242 w/2 scope probes, 2 DMM lead sets, alligator-to-BNC, USB cable and charger. The scope display updates quite fast, almost analog in nature. The x1 probe setting and 20MHz bandlimit work great for automotive applications. Storage depth is surprisingly large for the $. The DMM is quite accurate, capacitance range adequate and continuity test reasonably fast. The diode test applies a bit over 3 volts; display over-ranges at 2V. Four different scope set-ups and 4 reference waveforms may be stored. Pictures and comma delimited files may be stored on a pseudo USB appearing drive for PC retrieval. I haven't tried the OWON software as I have plenty of tools in Excel. All-in-all I was going to give it a 4star review due to "clunkyness" and "a bit better than nothing" manual but the widget is so darn useful it deserves 5 stars. The BAD:1) The manual will get you started but I suggest you makeup your own menu "tree" diagram.2) The method of file save/retrieve and PC access is clunky and NOT explained well.3) The scope "calibration" drifts with temperature. Definitely not as stable as a multi-thousand $ instrument. The Auto Calibration helps, unhook all probes, takes about a minute.4) If your familiar with a DSO you'll get about halfway through the learning curve in an afternoon. You'll spend another tying to figure out the file storage/retrieval and USB/PC procedure.5) The DMM lacks MIN/MAX logging on voltage/current ranges

The scope is OK. Not great, but OK. I've owned and used oscilloscopes both at work and at home for 40 years (Tektronix, HP, Rigol, Owon, etc). This is my 4th Owon scope. Generally, they are very intuitive, easy to use, work quite well, and the functionality for the price is excellent. This one is an exception. The interface is NOT very intuitive and the big problem with that is the manual is awful. But after watching a few YouTube videos reviewing it (most of them saying the same thing about the lack of a coherent user interface) there was enough information from others that strugged to figure it out that I was able to get my way around. The PC software is another issue. Its completely broken. It will connect as a drive and let you get the saved images, and it will show you what's on the screen - sort of - but nothing else works. The first picture of a 1 MHz AM modulated signal from my function generator came from saving on the scope. Connecting to it with the software while the nice AM signal is on the scope screen gives me the audio, a 400 Hz sine wave. Clicking on any of the parameters (volts/div, time/div) just switches them back to what's set on the scope (see pictures 1 and 2). Opening the remote control results in an immediate crash when starting to get the data from the scope (see picture 3). Running on different computers (windows 10 and 11) with different versions of Java doesn't make any difference.Come on Owon get your act together, this is ridiculous. If you need to use this with a PC, DO NOT BUY IT. It's BROKEN. I'm sending this back and ordering the Hantek and won't be buying a 5th Owon product.Seriously disappointed but glad for Amazons return policy for worthless tech.

My Background is Electronic Engineering and I was doing it for 35 years. The scope itself comes well packaged with the Case, one BNC Scope lead, Two BNC alligator leads One Meter Probe pair and a USB-C charge and cable. Your buying this for the Scope not the meter. Surprisingly the Signal Generator and Meter work very well so that is a Bonus.Let me Break this down into the Good and The Bad.The Good1) It Works well and is not Flaky like the Hantek I tested before. The Owen actually works as advertised and it simple to use and very intuitive if you have ever used a scope before. If this is your first scope then it does not get any easier than this as the limited amount of buttons means a lot less confusion.2) I have posted a lot of pictures but the short summation is that the Signal Generator, Scope Combo works very well. Even at the most sensitive 100mv setting I had almost zero noise as Pictured. It worked a lot better than expected.3) I included some common use scenarios in the pictures. Like RC Radio. HF Radio, Arduino use and Solar and Automotive use. It does this very well at all of them.4) The Triggering works well in almost all the test I threw at it.5) Surprisingly the Voltage and Resistance meter work Very well as you can see in the pictures when I match it against my Fluke Meter. If it's like most DMM then I don't expect the capacitance readings to be very good.6) It has lots of Measurement tools that you can put on Screen. The menus take a bit of time to learn to navigate but once setup it keeps the settings.7) Screen clarity and Brightness are not bad at all. I also like that the controls are responsive.8) Battery life is supposed to be 4 hours, I don't doubt it. I have done 3 hours of testing and it's not even at 50%.The Bad1) On the scope side of things not all that much is Bad. The signal Generator starts to lose Voltage accuracy past 1Mhz even though it can go almost to 25Mhz. It is still very useful all the way to 20Mhz.2) The Ohm Meter works but forget fast triggering for checking for faults. This Meter requires a closure time on a couple of hundred milliseconds before the meter beeps. It's not bad but it is also not great.3) The hold up stand on the back is crap! It's actually the worst part of this scope. It's cheap and feels like it will break off if stressed too much.4) The Horizontal and Vertical Movement buttons feel very counter Intuitive. I got use to it but it should be Up Arrow and Down arrow to Move the Position on Horz and not Left and Right Arrow.Final Notes:Owen you got a really good product here at a very good price, Just a few things need fixing.1) That Signal Generator Output can be easily damaged and it's not a good thing that it looks just like the Inputs its placed next to. It would be nice if it had Red around it instead of Black like the Inputs.2) I have no idea how the Snapshot Capture removal works. I like capturing events but it would be very useful if it was easier to get them off the screen. I took one and saved it on the screen and could not get it off until I cleared everything. I could not even find the menu option t just clear the captured waveform. I am sure it is there but I cannot find it.3) Firmware updating, it is not very clear on how it is done.4) The PC app is not all that Good.Overall though the Best Hand Held Scope I have used in this Price Class. It is even better than some that I have used that cost double the Price.

It has decent resolution, while being portable. It is very nice for mobile circuit diagnostics, especially when I am at a competition.
