I used this to stamp steel and stainless steel. It worked well. Kind of amazing to get a whole set of letters and numbers for less than a dollar per punch.If you're having trouble make sure the thing you're trying to stamp is held securely and has a hard, heavy, object under it so it can't move when hit. The anvil part of a hefty bench vise works well, especially if you can use a woodworking clamp to hold the object steady on it.If you are trying to smack something that is sitting loose on the floor where it can bounce around, you're gonna have a bad time. That's not the fault of the punch. And if you're trying to use it on a surface that soaks up the blow like a wooden tabletop or a carpet floor you might not even make a discernible mark at all! Also not the punch's fault.

So lightly heated the letters and did a quick stamping on my cured soaps and came out great.. chose this brand because it says stainless steel versus metal alloy so hopefully will not melt over time… super heavy set
