This is a nice and small tool that will fit into any tool bag or box. I've had these in the past and use them for two main purposes. First is what it's designed for. And that's whether the outlet is wired correctly specifically if there are any open or reversed wiring.The second simple purpose I use it for is to determine if I turned off the correct circuit breaker. For example, if I wanted to change the outlet I would plug this in. It would confirm there is power going to it. Then I would flip the circuit break for that room and check this tool again. If it's off then I got the correct circuit breaker. There have been times especially on older homes where the circuit breakers are mislabeled. And this saved me from getting a shock.Last word, read the packaging in my pic to see what this won't detect. Nothing wrong with that, just know you tools.
