We used to put a 9kilo 3.5 meter Kayak on the roof of car , No problem. the only thing is that the noise can be rather off putting.

Overall, we are very satisfied and think this product is absolutely worth the money. My wife and I bought this for a ski trip from Austin, TX to Beaver Creek, CO (and back). All together, we drove around 2,000 miles with this product. We were driving a 2020 Hyundai Kona. I was using a very large ski bag with two snowboards, two sets of skis, and assorted helmets/goggles/etc. The bag probably weighed about 25 pounds.Installation:It's easy to install. It took me maybe 5 minutes the first time, and was quicker afterward. You simply set the pads on the roof, run the straps through the passenger compartment of the car, and tighten the straps. I did it in the dark while wearing gloves and had no issues.Scratches:I was worried that it would scratch the paint on the roof of the car, but my worries were unfounded. After 2,000 miles of mostly highway driving, there was no discernable damage to the finish of the car. The material on the bottom of the pads was very soft on the paint.Performance:On the drive up, I did have to pull over once to tighten the straps. My ski bag had come loose and started moving on top of the car. That was pretty scary. To be clear, I do NOT think the straps came loose, I think I just failed to tighten them enough initially. I ran the straps through the carry handle on my ski bag and re-tightened. After that, I never had another issue. If you are carrying something that catches a lot of wind, you'll want to tighten the straps as much as you can.Issues:There are two things you should be aware of with this roof rack. First, the straps of the rack go between the door and the frame, and therefore interferes with the door seal. As such, using this rack does increase the wind noise in the passenger cabin. I didn't find it particularly bad and got used to it pretty quickly, but it may be a concern to some. Second, the straps go across the "ceiling" inside the passenger compartment. If you are in a car with limited head room, the straps might hit your head. These two issues were fine for us, and they are entirely necessary to the way this roof rack functions. If you can live with it, great. If not, you may need to look for a different product.

We were hopeful this would be a good product but we could not get it secure enough to carry our snowboard

The description and a photo indicates that it works for skis. But not for me. There were no instructions to use it for skis. I tried different ways, but laying skis flat would have scratched the roof of the car. The pads are not thick enough to keep the bindings or "brakes" off the roof. And I saw no way to keep the skis upright on their sides. Might be great for other things, but not skis.

I got these because I wanted SOME kind of roof rack for my Mazda 3 so I can transport kayaks or other items on top of my car. A roof rack is available for my car, but it costs hundreds, so I needed something universal, and this fit the bill. It isn't amazing, but it gives some padding on top of my car so my roof doesn't get destroyed and the weight is more evenly spread out. Honestly I don't think I would pay $46 for it though. Maybe $30.

If youre new to this and have never done it before, the instructions that come with this are useless. I added a picture for the same straps that I had to drive to the hardware store to find so that I could strap it correctly. BIG issue I have with this is that if it’s raining or snowing it lets water into the car since it pulls on the window gaskets. The roof interior of my car is soaked and I’m worried about mold. The slip grip isn’t very grippy at all. Slides around of the roof even when cinched tight. Scared to do a 4 hour trip with my snowboards on this but I don’t have a choice since my 2019 Nissan Altima doesn’t have roof racks.

I used this on a vehicle that has side rails, but no cross bars, and it worked well to distribute the weight and protect the roof of the vehicle. The 3" thick pads are slightly taller than the side rails, but the side rails are still accessible. So, the straps that mount the pads can sneak under the side rails and go through the vehicle for a secure mount...while the side rails are still accessible to secure the load on top of the pads. Material encasing the pads seems sturdy. The pads will compress slightly as the load is secured...which is good since helps to keep the items from slipping around. Since they are going through the doors, the straps run through the vehicle about 3" below the passenger compartment ceiling...so, I was worried that the strap would bump me in the head while driving, but there was enough clearance, with the strap over my head. I only used the tie down straps, and can confirm that they are easy to tighten, and they stay taught thanks to the burrs on the buckle. I did not use the quick loops to provide a lashing point (since I have the side rails), but I can see that they would be helpful if hauling a large item like a canoe. All items fit easily into the storage bag. It took about 15 minutes to mount the roof rack and secure the load, but I imagine that it will get faster with practice.

Purchase this for a ski trip. I was a little skeptical when I came in the mail it didn’t really seem like very much but I have to tell you I was pretty impressed. The skis stayed in place and I hit speed up to 90 miles an hour and everything was fine. I would definitely recommend, this to anyone that needs to transport skis, a canoe, a surfboard .

Everything was included as described. I agree with a previous review that the carbineer clips for the tie down are too small and weak. Easy enough to replace. Everything fits in the bag which is great for storage.
