Product Description

The OTC 7822A is a rugged tool built for GM’s K-3500 series trucks with heavy-duty chassis and a larger torsion bar. It features a larger C-frame opening to accommodate beefier torsion bars. The tool holds the torsion bar while you make adjustments. It also works on 1988 to 2003 GMC and Chevrolet 1/2, 3/4, and 1-ton pickups; the S-10 Blazer and S-15 Jimmy, 4WD pickups with 4.3L V-6 engines; and 1991 to 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada.

From the Manufacturer

GM's K-35 series trucks with the heavy-duty chassis require heavy-duty tools to deal with the larger torsion bar. The larger C-frame opening on the 7822A accommodates the beefed-up torsion bar on these trucks holding it in place while you loosen or tighten the adjusting nut. Also works on 1988 and newer GMC and Chevrolet 1/2, 3/4 and 1-ton pickups; S-10 Blazers S-15 Jimmys 4WD pickups with 4.3L V-6 engines; and 1991 and newer Olds Bravada.

I used this on a 2004 Chevy 2500hd. I used it to remove Supreme Suspensions leveling keys and put stock keys back in. I greased the threads because I broke two tools putting the lift keys in. Not sure if that was necessary or if it would have solved my problem on other tools. I just wanted every advantage I could get. My Tortion bars were extremely torqued.

Ordered this tool since I was concerned with removing the tension from the torsion bars on my 2500HD Silverado. Device made the job 100% safer and quicker than otherwise. Tools was shipped quick and was received in the original OEM box as brand new. One tip - use anti seize on the threads and remove weight from the side being adjusted / removed via jacking up the vehicle - this will ensure the tool will provide a long service life.

Bought this as a gift for a friend opening his own suspension shop. First thing i noticed after receiving it is that this is definitely not an OTC 7822C Tool. I have used the OTC tool in the past and this appears different. Also it is not even marked with the right Part number.Regardless of this it appeared to be a decent tool so I went ahead and gave it to our friend for use in his shop. I was upfront that i was trying to get him the OTC tool but he wanted to give it a shot anyways. According to him, on the first job, it removed the first key no problem. Then on the second key the threads got really tight almost as if it seized up. The threads were greased prior to use as well. Luckily he was able to get the shaft down far enough to remove the tool without having to cut it. Other people on here are posting it is ok so not sure what to think. Just wanted to put this out there. I purchased a cheaper tool for my own personal use and have had no issues in the two jobs (myself and my sons) I did with it. Wanted to go a little nicer tool for my friend but guess I was mistaken.

Pro's - Fits into place and makes the job of unloading the torsion bar tension in a safe manner. Made of good quality.Con's - A steep price for this tool that most home mechanics may only use in one occasion.I would not attempt doing front end work without the use of this tool. I am very happy with it.

I thought this tool would be very handy and is the right tool for the job. I stripped out the threads the first time I used it and it is very fine threads. I used my ball joint press and job completed.

Worked just as expected. Price is high for a tool that you need for 20 minutes. Can always sell to recover some of the cost!

This is a extremely heavy duty tool. This is dealership quality at the cheapest price around. I had to replace my upper and lower arms in my avalanche. Now you need a good tool you trust your life with because if the tool breaks and the torsion bars get loose, you could get hurt or seriously injured up to death. I put my life on the line with this tool and I'm glad I did. HEAVY DUTY!!! Make sure you grease up the threads so YOU dont strip them out.

Great tool, just what we needed. Stayed in place perfectly and didn't slip at all. High quality threads stood up perfectly to the high pressure applied while using it. Much safer than using a ball joint tool or c clamp, costs a bit more but this is a case where the right tool makes all the difference.
