Every year we've lived here the number of box elder bugs we have in the living room has been increasing. They even started appearing in the cold weather, which isn't right at all. Now, I don't really mind them; they look kind of like fireflies but have these wicked cool red orange racing stripes instead of a glowing butt. Google will help you out if you can't picture it.Anyway, we weren't getting swarms, just ones and twos, then fives and tens. Pro tip: a dustbuster will collect them all in a jiff and you can dump them outside where they belong. But it got to the point where enough was enough. I'm not running a box elder bug shelter around here! I searched around and the internet suggested scrubbing the area so they wouldn't be attracted to it anymore. Okay, done. The place needed a good cleaning anyway. Still no change in the number of flying guests. What next? How are they getting in? Um, good question.I refuse to admit how long it took me to figure it out, but you have an advantage already: this is a review for caulk, remember? We were mostly seeing these guys by the windows that flank our fireplace in a nice sunny part of the house. The windows are fairly new with good screens and closed tight most of the time. So that wasn't it. Could they be coming down the chimney? Nope, the flue is shut and besides I've got a classy-looking blanket over it to keep out the draft. Hmmmm.Fine, I'll just get to the point (I know; too late). Walking around the house one day I noticed that the caulk between the siding and the brick was crusty and crumbly and had opened up big gaps. You don't think, do you? Yep, of course, duh. Chipped the old caulk out, used a little bit of backer rod to fill in some of the larger gaps, caulked everything up (yeah, it is pretty darn messy to work with) and voilà! After only another few weeks for the last of the box elders to emerge (yeah, I figure there must have been eggs or larvae in the wall - awesome), no more box elder bugs! So, um, buy this product I guess. It worked for me.

Bought this product to seal the exterior of newly installed windows. This stuff is great! It is very flexible with no noticeable shrinkage. Great price, highly recommend.

This sealant worked great! I use it to seal between trim boards on my house and concrete.
