Designed to meet CEDIA’s target for Level 4 home theaters - 18Hz +/- 3dB, and at an amazing price, the FS12 is a home theater enthusiast’s dream. The industry standard for audio in home theaters is set out in the recommended practices guidelines, known as RP22. It has been established that to be a Level 4 (the highest level) theater, the bass must reach down to 18Hz. It also requires achieving an SPL level of 118dB, which the FS12 does due to the 600W RMS built-in amp. Used in conjunction with suitably powerful amps, such as the OSD Nero HTA7200, and main speakers such as the OSD S-series, these subs allow you to experience the ultimate home theater sound.

So I have had this sub in use for several days now. It is far superior to my older 12" down firing subwoofer. I'm confident that it was $300 well spent. Is it the equal of a similarly sized and appearing SVS PB-1000? I suspect not, but I really have no way of comparing. It's also not $800! I bought this elsewhere, but saw no other reviews for this particular model. If I could, I’d rate it 4.5 stars. One of the grill pegs was broken on arrival and they seem delicate.

I’ve had this FS-12 for 6 months now and I couldn’t be happier. I currently use a Dayton audio DSP-LF to for additional control. As you can see this sub plays flat down to about 18hz. It was incredibly easy to set up and blend with the rest of my home theater. The bass is clean not boomy. I regularly listen at levels cresting 105db and there are no ugly cracks or chuffing from the port. I can’t believe this thing isn’t more popular. I’ve had several subs before klipsch, Polk, paradigm, an old velodyne this is by far the best I’ve owned. You’d be hard pressed to find a better subwoofer under $600.
