Work well and is a little to small for my 1 ton ford. Used old pads to help out.

If you've done a number of brake jobs, you know that spreading calipers can be a nightmare, even if you're careful. If not done precisely, it can end the job right there and require caliper replacement. The right tool can make a significant difference both in how careful you're able to be, and how physically difficult the task is to execute. While this tool is heavy, making it easier to use with two sets of hands, one person can not only employ this tool, but the tool is the absolute best of many different spreaders I've used. Further, it's built like a fortress and I have zero doubt that, unless I lose it, I'll never have to buy another one again. The expansion rate is slow and gentle, as it should be, but powerful, as the tool is very stout. The key to success is a few turns, then back off a hair and let the caliper relax, then repeat the process until the piston is completely retracted. Be patient, and you should have no trouble. The included caliper hangers are very helpful if you don't already have a set. I am very discerning with the tools that I use; I endorse this tool without reservation.

My first one had the only problem possible with such a simple tool. The lock nut was cross threaded and stripped so the spreading action got stiff then broke. Make sure your arms are parallel as well, my replacement was perfect, first one was off a little.

Purchased this for a break job on my personal vehicle and it works just a described. Very sturdy, easy to use, saved me a bunch of time.

While this is a good idea in theory, in reality the tool doesn't hold up as intended. When attempting to use the spreader, the metal "spreader" paddle started to bend. I stopped before it bent permanently, but it couldn't compress the caliper piston without bending. I ended up returning it and purchasing a different spreader that is a more traditional design.

The tool broke, but was still usable. I received a partial refund, due to the breakage which is very helpful.Thanks.

My Sequoia front brakes has two pistons so this tool really comes in handy when I had to push the pistons all the way back for new brake pads installation.Overall, very useful tool to have.
