This light is well designed and robust. It is the perfect size for a primary light in a recreational use and a backup in a technical use.The 1300 lumen high output produces a good spot, but does flood enough to get a good visual of whatever the user may be looking at. The low output still puts out plenty of light while maintaining a longer battery life. The throw from this light covers plenty of distance. As many know, switches can be a problem with unintentional activation during transport. This light has a handy lock out setting which preserves battery life and prevents the light from activating until the user wants to use it.The batteries utilized are 18650 which provide ample battery life for most applications. With multiple batteries (sold separately) and a simple charging setup, this light is easily kept working in the field. Plus they are 18650 and can be used in multiple applications.I will definitely be purchasing an additional D530 for redundant light uses.

I recently had the opportunity to use the Orcatorch D530 dive light. This is great little light that functions as a backup for night/cenote diving, or as a take along during day dives to look into holes in the reef. It’s small and compact, and at 5 3/4” long fits easily into your BC pocket.Despite its small size it is solidly made from aluminum, and construction is sturdy. I like the three O-rings on the threaded shaft that ensures no water gets into the light and battery. Power is provided by the included 18650 battery – which was a little different from other 18650 batteries I have. This battery has a micro USB port in it that you plug directly into a wall charger – no separate 18650 sized charger is needed. With a 1300 lumen LED it’s very bright – almost too bright when you look at your computer or gauges with it. But it does allow you to switch back to a more sedate 380 lumen mode. Battery life was fantastic – over 2 hours on the high setting. Being a smaller light the beam is smaller than other larger lights, but it has a great spot with a lot of light spill that helped illuminate open areas. It has a side mounted button that easily cycles through both modes as well as off. The button also changes color to indicate remaining battery life. An additional feature of the switch is the lock out mode that renders the switch inoperative to prevent accidental operation when tossed into your dive bag. A quick double press of the light unlocks it.The light comes its rechargeable 3400mAh 18650 rechargeable battery, USB A – micro B cord; wrist lanyard, extra O-rings; and a documentation packet. This is an excellent small, compact light at a great price point.

I recently purchased the Orcatorch D530 as a backup light for overhead environment diving. I prefer a light I can use hands free for my primary light, so I didn't use this light much. I liked this one because it was roughly equivalent to my regular "every dive" light.I always carry a 1200-ish lumen light on me. Wether it's in my pocket, or in my hand I always have a light. Something compact is nice for OC dives, to toss in a pocket, or hang from a D-ring. This light is nice and compact, yet functional with 2 brightness settings. My regular light has 4 settings, but that is a little overkill in my opinion. High or low is what I'm usually going for depending on the conditions. The thing that attracted me to this light was the lock feature. I have gotten out of the water in the desert with my other light for a surface interval and had the light turn on in my pocket. The D530 will lock if you hold the button till the light flashes twice. These 1200-1300 lumen lights get hot in your pocket if you accidentally turn them on. I travel a lot, so a light I can lock is nicer than a light I have to remove the battery from. In my pictures, you will see the light on the right is my old Big Blue, trusty AL1200...which does not lock. The Orcatorch D530 on the left is a lower price offering with great build quality and a lockout feature and easily the brightness equivalent.I would suspect this light's switch would need to be flushed out after a salt water dive, like any other light, but I recently dove to 250 ffw and the light continues to work. It is rated below that, but switches can be a problem at those depths. I did not have a switch problem, however in those conditions this light is for backup only and not generally turned on. I didn't get a chance to try it, but next time I'm diving in the Great Lakes, I will! I have a couple of Orcatorch lights now, and will likely get another as they come out with newer generations with more power and features.A side note. This light came with an 18650 Li-Ion battery with a USB micro connector cable to USB A type connection. When lights come with chargers, they tend to be bulky and regular electrical plug connectors. I have been depending upon USB type adapters for some time when traveling, and I like this light-weight option. I have seen these batteries before, but now Orcatorch seems to be shipping with them, and I'm a fan. A few cables, versus bulky chargers is welcome for me.
