Bought 4 sprinkler valves. Had to replace 2 solenoids because the were loudly humming. It seems orbit has changed the design of the solenoid. The old model worked much better.

Believe the "high return" warning on Amazon. I bought two of these, as seperate times, both failed. The first leaked water right off the bat, the solenoid failed on the second one after one day. I have experience with these types of units so not an installation problem. I then bought a more expensive Orbit and it failed (solenoid "fell off", broken. Finally paid almost 2x for a RainBird and it is working fine.

Disappointed how fast the original unit started leaking but bought this hoping for better workmanship. Also wanted to avoid having to respace the PVC pipes for a different brand

So as not to have to cut the pvc pipes when replacing one of these in the future, I used a flange type union to connect to the sprinkler side of the valve. That way, I can unscrew the union nut, then unscrew the entire valve from the supply side. I like the manual actuation built into the solenoid mount. That makes it easier to test the sprinklers.

I have been using 12 rainbird B73000 valves on my property for the past 20 years, and have just started to switch over to the Orbit 57626. It is a simpler design, and will outlast the rainbird at half the price.

This valve has no way to turn off/on the water supply to it. Also, it has no manual way to turn on/off the sprinkler to which it it attached.
