I used this as underlay for HO/OO flexible model railway track. The thickness was consistent at about 3 mm (though I didn't measure it) and the width was about right for ballasting later to make a shoulder. To make it curve more easily I cut it down the centre this also made it possible to fix (using pins) to a pre marked centre line. After fixing all of this underlay in place I sanded the top with a large sanding block and a full sheet of sanding paper spanning as many tracks as possible to keep the tops all on the same plane. The cork sanded well I thought it might come away in little chunks but it was ok. After a ballast "undercoat" of grey emulsion paint the track was glued on.All togethe a good product but 4 stars as it sometimes wasn't perfectly straight having to be coaxed slightly to be made so.
