This isn't for someone that doesn't know how to swim, as you will need to either manually inflate(tube) or pull tab(CO2) and then put the strap over you head behind your neck.Bought a couple differenent foam kayay vest, but it still sometimes ride up on you(back part) when in the kayak. They do provide ample room for rowing, which was the main reason I got them.Saw this on someone at the lake and really liked how it fit around the waist and you feel more free to paddle, etc.I tested it out, blew it up manually, tried it on. -1 star for it feel line a little tight when fully blown around the chest(where the straps connect to go around your neck). I didn't try the pull-tab inflation, but from watching youtube vids of others testing it out, doesn't seem to blow it up as much as I did when manually blowing it up via the tube, so might be more comfortable that way. Maybe I just filled it up too much??I also purchased the Green Indicator Pins (6 pack/LelandPart Number V85006) and CO2 cartridges 3/8 threaded (12 pack) separately. For that price, I can at least test it out and re-arm it at a cheaper price. The re-arm kit they sell is a little to spendy for one kit.

Haven’t had to actually use it but everyone needs one if you are paddle boarder. Great to have on hand for piece of mind. I’ve been recommending it to everyone I know this summer!

I love this PFD. It is so lightweight that I forget that I have it on. When I go paddle boarding I always wear this around my waist where my friends have the bulkier jackets that they attach to their boards. All I have to do is pull the cord when needed.Side note, when I went through other reviews people were commenting on the cartridge being expired. That is the manufactured date.

I paddle outrigger and dragon boat and these are must-haves for staying safe on the water. They are a bit less constraining that the over the body type. With that said, if you're going into rough conditions, best to use something more heavy duty. These inflatable PFDs are for gentler/mild conditions where you have the option of activating in the case that something happens. This inflatable is comfortable and the waist straps are adjustable. There's a cartridge included.

This was purchased to try and find something more comfortable and that I would actually wear. I have several full size over the shoulder PFD‘s. But they are no fun in the Florida sun. This is a very nice around the waste PFD. I have no problem paddling with this and it’s light enough that it never feels like it’s bulky and in the way while I paddle board. I have gotten it wet plenty of times and it is very easy to unfold and re-fold once dry. The directions to re-fold are imprinted right inside of the package. The manual inflation “straw” is a nice feature should the cartridge fail to inflate for some reason.

Unlike some other similar vests, this one is United States Coast Guard Approved and has a Class V rating with Class III performance. In my state, Minnesota, this is required for use while canoeing or stand-up paddle boarding. It only came with one rearming pin and cylinder, so to test it like the instructions state, I had to get a rearming kit. I'm glad I did: After donning this, floating out in the water (so I could still touch) I pulled the cord to test it. It inflated very fast, and it was really easy to see what I was supposed to do in case of an emergency. It provides excellent buoyancy when inflated. It isn't stylish or comfortable once deployed - and that's okay, as this will only get used in an emergency. When packed for use, it just looks like a belt and is completely out of the way. I wish I'd have gotten something like this years ago!

It's very comfortable to wear, hardly notice it's there. I put it on and manually unfolded the air bag, put the strap around my neck and blew up the bag using my lungs and the attached inflation tube. It inflated in about 5 seconds. With bag inflated it fits quite snug. I have high confidence it will keep me afloat if I ever need to employ it.My initial concern before I bought this was if I needed to replace the air cartridge regularly. I have since learned that this is not the case. The air cartridge is screwed into the unit and it is not pierced until it is actually needed to inflate the bag. So really, it should hold its air for years. It is advised to test the bag periodically using the manual inflation tube to check the air bag hasn't been punctured somehow, but this takes just a few minutes to inflate and then deflate and then repack the bag. One final note, I did purchase the "Green Indicator Pins for Inflatable Life Jackets / PFDs" made by LELAND in case I did use the compressed air inflation system and needed to rearm. The PFD uses these green pins when you yank the inflation handle and have to be replaced. I determined it is more cost effective to buy these pins ($8 for 6 pins) and the CO2 cartridge ($2 each) than to buy a single rearm kit for $20.
