Updating my review to help all others. This gauge must be used with the proper sending unit. Your sending unit must absolutely read 115 Ohms at 215 degrees. You can use a Mopar sending unit, or the Omix-ada version 17218.04, available here on Amazon. After getting multiple gauges that did not work properly, even with using a new aftermarket sending unit, I finally called Omix-ada and they sent me one of their sending units. The Standard brand I used would only read 155 Ohms at 215 degrees, where the Omix-ada would read 115.Finally, I have a working gauge after 2 months of troubleshooting.

The item arrived and was defective (not working), Amazon told me they sent a replacement but never arrived, and to make things worse the seller did not have an idea of what was happening and asked for the tracking #......a loss of money and time...I had to cancel the order and buy the item from another seller.....

After accidentally busting the needle off of my old gauge, this one was a easy replacement. The needle is orange instead of yellow, like the old ones which makes it stand out. The placement is in the direct center of the gauge cluster so it seems as if it’s designed like that so it’s OK. Gauge worked just fine, or so I thought. The needle doesn’t rise to the full temperature reading; just moves some when the car is hot. Too bad they don’t make these digital for cheap. 1993 Jeep YJ.

Applied 12v and needle sweeps to 260 without any issue. There is a very slight movement when engine is hot and the key is turned off.

This was to replace one? or two? gauges that went bad. However I tested all aspects of the gauge and wiring and sender and all was well. However!! THe interconnect between the sender and the weatherpack connector coming off of the wiring harness turned out to be the culprit. THe Sender/Weatherpack combo is so rigid it held the female connector from the wiring harness directly over, around, but not in contact WITH, the sender pin. I pushed the sender pin to one side to make contact with one side of the connector inside the weatherpack assembly on the Jeep and poof! All was well, sender and gauge work perfectly. If this is NOT the oem part it is not detectable in any way different from the oem part. THe delivery was overnight (free!) and the quality was high!

The first one I received did not work. If you tapped it it would go full swing one direction. TAmazon quickly sent a replacement and it now works correctly. My advice test it before you button things up.
