I've been using this microscope to study tissue samples associated with Morgellons, in a life or death race to the finish, of which, due to this clunky piece of junk, is rapidly approaching, at the very least, in terms of memory storage on my computer - the videos, low def and grainy at best, get steeply memory hungry the longer they run, and believe me, it'll take so long to get the shots and footage you're looking for, that they will run long, very long, requiring the double fun of having to edit all this unwatchable gunk later on (yay!)That said, it is clearly overpriced by about $200. The light is far too dim, requiring major modifications (see included pic) which are clunky and cause problems like catching the slides. The fine focus does not work. AT ALL. (and believe me, I've adjusted them, doesn't matter). Must be used with both hands simultaneously on opposing dials, squeezing ever so carefully to avoid the inevitable, which you can't, cuz it jumps over magnifications overclocking and undermagnifying back and forth, blurry up, grainy down, wasting precious time, finite memory on your HDD, making jumpy video, and inciting unavoidable rage till you loose all patience and the use of both wrists as they lock up in pain.Unfortunately, after scouring Amazon's selections, as well as other sites, it's hard to know what could work better as for my application, I need - An included camera, with a .50x to .75x reduction adapter (this one is 25x - watch out for that), and its got to have a far higher megapixel, this 5MP requires you be VERY lucky with lighting to get a clear image, and the snail slow speed aye yai yai! it needs be WAY faster at USB 3.0 - A x2500 mag microscope, which seems only available as a compound, - but I need a stereoscopic unit (that's light from both top and bottom), and those only come available to about 60x, unless you want to pay 10s of 1000s of $$ which I do not.So in the meantime, at the height of my angst, I just wrote this bluntly honest review, in the hopes that either my fellow Amazonian reviewers would advise me, or Omax would reach out to me to swap this hunk a junk out for something that works.ADD-ON REVIEW:The ToupView Software crashes. Like CONSTANTLY. And guess what the bored out of his mind, why are you calling, couldn't care LESS tech said...? "Oh, yeah, like, it, like does that, so whatever, just, like take shorter videos".Yo! Mensa! How bout FIX YOUR SOFTWARE?!! 5 minutes, 50 minutes, doesn't matter, randomly crashes, taking ALLLLLL that precious data and the time you invested in it subtracted from your life you will NEVER get back. ARRRRGGGHHH!!!

I bought this for my daughter who is in college majoring in Coastal Environmental Science. My daughter said these are the exact same microscope they use in her science lab and she loves it so much she is constantly looking for "specimen" to look at under the microscope. This was a great buy and fabulous quality.

I bought this product last year because I had hopes to plug it into my Mac computer and do mushroom spore measurements. Well it wasn't totally clear that the software is NOT meant for a mac, so I have not been able to test the camera or measuring software. The microscope itself works well for the price, you are not going to produce mind blowing pictures, but it gets the job done. I ended up purchasing an adapter for my Canon T5i and that works for digital pictures. Honestly, the seller needs to be upfront about the software issue. If someone is reading this and has a link for software that would work with mac for this camera PLEASE let me know.
