This is a nice hatchet. It feels good in the hand. It’s mostly suited for splitting smaller pieces of wood and kindling. It’s not wedge shaped at all, so it’s not the best choice for splitting larger pieces. You can comfortably choke up on the handle and use the blade for cutting as well. It’s good for camping. The hammer head is suitable for pounding tent stakes. It’s also a top rate melee weapon or anti road rager device.

This hatchet is kinda pricey but worth every penny. I have been looking for years for "the one", and do believe I have finally found it, pending on how well it holds it's edge. It appears to be pretty hard steel judging by the work it took to get a keen edge. It came sorta sharp, but is now razor sharp after applying some time and a little elbow grease. I have a bunch of other survival/camp type hatchets but haven't really been wowed by any of them to tell you the truth, including some big-name popular brands, and this one is the go to from here out. Love the edge design, the kydex sheath that is very functional where most others have come up well short, the nail puller/pry bar, the whole thing is one piece of steel from one end to the other, and the hole for your finger to fit in for fine work, which is usually kind of clumsy and a little dangerous with other hatchets. It feels natural in your hand while whittling or whatever. Good design all around and I'm very happy with this hatchet, and will be with me always when heading for the mountains or the woods. The possible use for a effective defensive tool is apparent as well, given the keen edge, the hammer head, and the chisel like pry end. Not to mention it's just heavy enough to really be formidable, yet light enough to wield effectively and quickly should the undesirable need arise. This is an all-around super good tool to have in your kit.

Considering it as a combat ax. Came very sharp, very strong and let's face it, it looks as great as it performs. Great value and well made. Grip is excellent, no hot spots during use. There are others out there that are cheaper and look the same but the metal is better in this one.

Purchasd for my son who is an avid beginner outdoorsman/camper got it for him in October, waited till December after it saw sone usage. Blade is good Steel, handle is sturdy he says it's a great trail tool .

Other than being just a little smaller than I hoped, this thing is awesome.Arrived with a very sharp edge. I've tackled small branches, hacked up some straw for some grass seeding, and successfully threw it into several trees. I have yet to use it to fend off the zombies or any marauding creatures of the night. Highly recommend.
